Established in 2002, M-y books is an independent publisher that offers a high quality ‘boutique’ approach to self-publishing. Recognising that in the modern publishing world many authors must take the self-publishing route (at least initially before finding their market and possibly later switching to a major), we offer a unique service covering all aspects of successful publishing - including marketing, distribution and sales of each title we produce in electronic and audio book formats as well as printed hardback/paperback books.

Positioning ourselves at the cutting edge of the industry, we embrace every means of communication new and old to provide our authors with the widest possible range of ways in which people can discover their work. In addition to our ceaseless rolling programme dedicated to acquiring new outlets for our authors, M-y Books have supplier contracts with all the main printed book, audio book and e-book retailers (covering web-based retail, terminals in shops, mobile phone downloads and more conventional high street locations) as well as the burgeoning e-library channels worldwide.

Of course, some authors and small publishers enjoy the process of selling their own books and do it very well. However, in equal measure in our experience, some would rather not. After all, most of us find it difficult – embarrassing even – to praise or promote our own talent, so why not let us do it for you! What will you do for my book? We can’t guarantee that your book will sell well – but we can guarantee that it has the best possible chance of selling. That’s partly because we’re experienced book marketers with particular expertise in niche and small scale marketing – but it’s also because every author needs an enthusiastic and experienced advocate, whose enthusiasm for the work is far more convincing to a prospective stockist than the author’s own. In short, it is precisely because we’re independent of the author and the publisher that our opinion is convincing and persuasive. Alone you may be able to persuade your local bookshop to stock your book. With M-Y Books behind you, the probability of an in-store signing session, radio and local TV interviews and local press reviews is increased. We’ll also give you valuable advice on generating your own publicity by speaking at special interest group meetings and through government writers’ and arts schemes where possible. How do I know you’ve done everything you’ve promised? We’re keen to make the whole process completely transparent – so we’ll present you with an ‘Action Audit’ at the end of the period detailing everything that we’ve done on your behalf. This includes copies of the letters and emails mailed and the responses we received. What happens at the end of the Marketing period Once you’ve received the ‘Action Audit’ our contract is at an end – and because it includes the retailer and media database we’ve created for you, you’re free to continue marketing in your own right. Alternatively, you are, of course, welcome to repeat the contract if you wish and it is agreed that it would be worthwhile.
