An unusual petition praying that all Indian Muslims be sent to Pakistan came up for hearing before the Supreme Court today.
A visibly upset Justice Rohinton Nariman who was on the Bench with Justice Vineet Saran asked the lawyer representing the petitioner if he wanted to press the prayer. The lawyer answered in the negative whereupon the matter was dismissed.
This petition was filed by Sangat Singh Chauhan, a social worker from Uttarakhand who claims to pay “56 kinds of taxes to the Central and the State Governments”.
The petitioner had also prayed for a direction to be issued to Central government to bring all Hindus in Pakistan to India.
