In 1999, Corporate Express, then a public office products supplier, was acquired by Buhrmann NV, an inter-
national holding company based in Amsterdam. I was asked to develop a new identity for the acquired com-
pany that incorporated the Buhrmann identity mark and the Corporate Express identity text. The resulting
identity, shown here, was the company’s global mark for nine years and was featured throughout the world
on all corporate materials, vehicles, clothing, trade dress, marketing, and corporate literature.

Staples Advantage Line of Business Integration
Staples acquired Corporate Express in July of 2008. I was asked to join the Staples Marketing staff in a
creative and brand advisement role to lead the transition of the Corporate Express lines of business into the
newly-created Staples Advantage contract division. My team and I worked closely with the Staples Market-
ing staff in Massachusetts, Europe and Canada to align the overall Staples brand with the five new lines of
business. The noted difference is the furniture brand to address the needs of the furniture customer base.
As we integrate our companies, we will make
changes that provide added value for our
customers including expanded product
and service offerings, simplified operations,
and improved distribution capabilities.
Throughout 2009, we will be transitioning
Corporate Express Brands products to

Corporate Express EWay.com Launch Campaign
After developing the initial identity for the company’s online procurement site, our team was charged with
designing a campaign that would launch a new release of the site. A sustainable solution delivered a full
video overview on a flash memory drive along with other sales collateral that generated excitement and
support among the sales force.

Sustainable Earth
In order to take advantage of the growing demand for sustainable cleaning products, I was asked to lead
the initiative to rebrand this product line. We developed a full packaging system and a supporting brand
platform for marketing communications collateral. The entire system supports the value proposition of this
product line: Performance, People, Price, Planet.

With the company’s entrée into the private label pen space, my assignment was to develop names,
identities and marketing communications collateral for this new line. We named over a dozen new
pen products, created the logos and branding for the line. These remain many of the company’s
better selling SKUs.

The company needed a new brand to better position its furniture business in the marketplace. We were
asked to create a brand identity system and marketing collateral to support both the identity and the
marketing initiatives. The resulting system established a powerful and exciting new furniture distribution
brand within the business interior industry.

One of the most valuable marketing initiatives we supported was our partnership with our vendors.
Working closely with the team at 3M and the internal Merchandisers we were able to consistently
provide top-quality collateral that supported initiatives of both teams. The results showed that 3M
products consistently outperformed similar non-marketed items.

shapes. Our team’s solution maintained the equity of the Staples Contract brand system while displaying

extend the brand to encompass this messaging through catalogs, advertising and email. Working closely
with the internal client, my team was able to develop a unique look that retained the overall brand while
setting the business apart and conveying a compelling value proposition.

The line of fine coffees was an important element of the private label offering from Corporate Express.
I was asked to provide marketing materials that promoted the quality of the product in an alluring and
meaningful way. My team and I created a dimensional marketing piece that accompanied a brochure
touting the benefits of our brew. The results were very positive.

Packaging - IPW Remanufactured Toner System
Toner Packaging System - Marketing Campaign to benefit The Bridge Project
Image Projections West (IPW) needed a new brand identity system for their signature product line of high-quality toner
cartridges. I worked with them to identify their needs and extend the brand to introduce a new packaging system. This
new packaging has had a significant impact on improving the name recognition and increasing the revenue for IPW. The
brand has also been used to market IPW’s products to customers through the new “Print a page, Donate a dream.”
campaign that provides a way for 10% of a customer’s spend with IPW to go directly to The Bridge Project.
