  1. 1. Where is Your Identity? Really.
  2. 2. The Great Exchange Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Amplified Bible (AMP) Colossians 3:3 For you died [to this world], and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God.
  3. 3. Purpose of Weakness #1 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves.
  4. 4. Purpose of Weakness #2 2 Corinthians 12:9 but He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available— regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.” Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.
  5. 5. Result of Exchange 10 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength].
  6. 6. 10 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength]. I take pleasure = eudokeo = Present Active Indicative (now) = seems good, prefer, be favorably inclined toward, choose, be ready to, do willingly Weaknesses/infirmities = astheneia = weakness of body or soul Reproaches/insults = hybris = insolence, mental injury and wantonness of its infliction being prominent, injury inflicted by the violence of a tempest Necessities/distresses = anagne = necessity imposed by the external condition of things or by the law of duty, calamity, distress, straits Distresses/difficulties = stenochoria = narrowness of place, extreme affliction Persecutions = diogmos = The infliction of loss, pain, or death for adherence to a particular creed or mode of worship.
  7. 7. 10 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength]. For when I am weak = astheneo = Present Active Subjunctive (mood of possibility) = without strength, powerless, weak in position, weak in means, weak in body Then I am strong = eimi dynatos = Present Indicative (Statement of Fact) = mighty in wealth and influence, strong in soul (to bear calamities and trials with fortitude and patience, strong in Christian values), to be able to do something (excelling in something, having power for something).
  8. 8. Midbar & Dabar Hosea 2:14 Therefore, behold, I will allure [pathah = persuade, to spread out, to open] her, and bring [yalak = lead] her into the wilderness, [midbar] and speak [dabar] comfortably [leb = from the heart] unto her.
