  1. 1. The Romans ruled from 753BC to 1453AD. They were fierce warriors and had lethal weapons. They enforced strong laws and had painful punishments.
  2. 2. Rome was said to be founded by Romulus and Remus. The legend of Romulus and Remus is still believed today! They were said to have been raised by wolves. The legend is supposed to have influenced the jungle book. But the truth is the early Romans were really only farmers living in a region called Latium.
  3. 3. Why was Rome founded? 509bc The ordinary people got sick of being bossed around by their king Tarquin so the threw him out and started a republic.
  4. 4. There were hundreds of emperors, some, like Constantine I ruling as much 80 years and some were only on the throne for a matter of minutes! Very few emperors were good. Here are some of the worst!
  5. 5. Nero Name: Nero Reign: 54ad to 68ad. Favourite saying : Nero played the lyre VERY badly but the Greeks said he was brilliant. So Nero said... Nastiest act: Attempting to kill his mother who actually managed to survive. Nastiest habit: Murdering people. He even murdered his own brother with poison! Death: Killed himself to avoid being tortured by the rebels. Only the Greeks are worth my genius
  6. 6. Caligula Name: Caligula Reign: 37 AD-41 AD Favourite sayings: To his friends. To his people. To anybody who listen. Worst habit: His little ‘jokes’. He was supposed to hit the animal the priest had killed as a sacrifice with a heavy hammer. But instead Caligula would hit the priest. Daftest act: He made his trusty friend Icitatus one of Rome's most powerful rulers. What’s wrong with that? Icitatus was a horse! Sticky end: One of his trusted guards stabbed him to death. It has just occurred me I could have you killed. Rome is a city of necks waiting for me to chop. I am a god
  7. 7. Claudius Name: Claudius Reign: 41 AD – 54 AD Favourite sayings: ...... Nastiest habit: Watching men being whipped to death. Rottenest act: His wife threw secret wild parties. When Claudius found out he executed not only his wife but 300 party guests too! Death: His niece Agrippina poisoned him. K-k-k-k-k-k ....er....execute him!
  8. 8. Roman battles
