TIPS AND LESSONS LEARNED 1. Knowledge is Key: You have to understand subject matter, know what skills to look for, what tests to look for, etc. More you put in, more you will get out. 2. Experienced (You Invite) vs. New (They Apply) Contractors: Good contractors are very busy so for long term work, sometimes better to go with new contractors 3. Hourly vs. Fixed Price: Hourly usually the way to go unless its very clear and measurable work. Usually scope always changes and hourly better results. 4. Adjust as you Learn and Experiment: Try to learn about the field from conversations with potential contractors, other job postings and existing contractors. Use leanings to hire better contractors. 5. Think of Virtual Team: Treat contractors like virtual team. The more you empower them the more you will get out of it.
