HCL Enterprise comprises 41,000 employees across two companies HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems. Increased collaboration within and between the two entities was a competitive imperative. To increase operational efficiency, HCL decided to integrate group companies on a new, single messaging solution on a single domain (hcl.in). Given the size of both the entities, this was impossible to achieve using the existing, heterogeneous technology infrastructure. To address this issue, HCL deployed Microsoft® Windows Server 2003™ Enterprise Edition and Microsoft® Exchange Server messaging environment. The new infrastructure, with centralized management and ease of integration with the existing infrastructure, helped HCL reduce operational costs, improve security, and enabled its employees become more productive.
