  3. 3. <ul><li>Every day, about four children die in the U.S. because of the abuse or neglect. Most of them are babies below the age of 4. </li></ul>
  4. 6. Types of Child Abuse: <ul><li>Neglect </li></ul><ul><li>Sexual Abuse </li></ul><ul><li>Emotional Abuse </li></ul><ul><li>Physical Abuse </li></ul>
  5. 7. <ul><li>Sexual Abuse is almost the most common form of Child Abuse. </li></ul><ul><li>Child Sexual Abuse has been reported up to 80,000 times a year. </li></ul><ul><li>Imagine the unreported… </li></ul>
  6. 8. <ul><li>You hate when your parents tell you what to do. </li></ul><ul><li>They have to do it if they want to stay alive… </li></ul>
  7. 9. <ul><li>17% of the child abuse cases are emotional abuse! </li></ul><ul><li>Emotional Abuse can lead to suicide. </li></ul>
  8. 10. <ul><li>Can you imagine your parents not giving you food, clothes, hygiene, care or an education, that happens to 906,000 kids every year! </li></ul><ul><li>You could </li></ul><ul><li>DIE </li></ul><ul><li>because of this! </li></ul>
  9. 12. <ul><li>20% percent of the kids in the United States suffer physical abuse. </li></ul>
  10. 13. <ul><li>It hurts when you fall down the stairs, but they are used to it by now, their pain is inside. </li></ul>
  11. 14. 25%-50% of all children will experience some form of child abuse.

You think someone is being abused? <ul><li>Look for: </li></ul><ul><li>Skin Injuries (bruises, bite marks,etc) </li></ul><ul><li>The change in behavior of the child </li></ul><ul><li>Usually hungry, and dirty </li></ul><ul><li>Lack of energy </li></ul><ul><li>Usually alone at home </li></ul>

What can we do to help? <ul><li>Donate money to child abuse prevention websites. </li></ul><ul><li>Make powerpoints like this and post them on different websites. </li></ul><ul><li>Raise awareness about child abuse </li></ul><ul><li>Be friendly in the neighborhood, maybe one of your neighbors is abused… </li></ul><ul><li>Report as soon as possible if you can. Remember you will be saving someone’s life. </li></ul>
  14. 17. <ul><li>Think about how other abused children feel. Imagine if it were you… </li></ul><ul><li>Do something to change things. </li></ul><ul><li>Get support to make changes. </li></ul>
