  3. 3. Biography <ul><li>John Keats was born in London, on October 31st 1795 in Moorfields, London, England. Then died on February 23rd 1821 in Rome, Italy. His occupation was a poet, medical student, and surgeon's apprentice. He was the latest born of the great Romantic poets. While living his short life, critics didn't like him. Keats poetries were mostly imagery and in a series of odes. </li></ul>Portrait by William Hilton
  4. 4. Themes Of Poetry <ul><li>Keats's poetry is characterized by an exuberant love of the language and rich, with sensuous imagination. His literature theme was Grecian mythology. All of Keats poems deal with typical romance motives like nature, feelings, the glorification of the Elizabethan age, and more. </li></ul>
  5. 5. John’s Techniques <ul><li>John's main techniques are personification, apostrophe, and imagery. He uses personification to give readers single image. Keats also uses apostrophe in his poems to help employ the meanings to the reader. The term apostrophe is a type of devise that poets use when something is not a human such as; an animal, idea, or a dead person. </li></ul>

 </li></ul><ul><li>Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun </li></ul><ul><li>Conspiring with him how to load and bless 
 </li></ul><ul><li>With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run; 
 </li></ul><ul><li>To bend with apples the moss’ d cottage-trees, </li></ul><ul><li>
 And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; 
 </li></ul><ul><li>To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells 
 </li></ul><ul><li>With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, 
 </li></ul><ul><li>And still more, later flowers for the bees, </li></ul><ul><li>
 Until they think warm days will never cease, </li></ul><ul><li>For Summer has o’ e r-brimm’ d their clammy cells. </li></ul><ul><li>Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?

 </li></ul><ul><li>Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;

 Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft 
 </li></ul><ul><li>The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft; </li></ul><ul><li>
 And gathering swallows twitter in the skies. </li></ul>Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store? Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find Thee sitting careless on a granary floor, 
 Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind; Or on a half-reap’ d furrow sound asleep, Drows’ d with the fume of poppies, while thy hook Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers: And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep Steady thy laden head across a brook; Or by a cyder-press, with patient look, Thou watches the last oozing hours by hours.
  7. 7. Interpretation of “ To Autumn “ <ul><li>In &quot; To Autumn &quot; the poem is rich imagery. All five senses are evoked. Calling Autumn the &quot; close bosomfriend of the maturing sun and the prime of the late-flowers . &quot; It shows to be &quot; conspiring &quot; sun in order to produce a fruitful harvest. Which is, the sun is personified indirectly as a woman whom the speaker is talking to. Autumn is described as &quot; sitting careless &quot; and having &quot; hair soft-lifted &quot; in drowsing. </li></ul>
