  2. 2. What is a Reptile? <ul><li>Reptiles are cold-blooded. </li></ul><ul><li>There are more then 6,800 reptile species in the world! </li></ul><ul><li>They have bodies covered with dry and horny scales. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Defense <ul><li>When snake gets mad flattens it’s head and neck and hisses loudly. It makes a strike but rarely bites. </li></ul><ul><li>Some lizards have tails that fall off when they are attacked. </li></ul><ul><li>Ringneck Snake it shows a red warning color underneath its tail as a warning sign. </li></ul><ul><li>Most lizards depend on camouflage. </li></ul><ul><li>Some reptiles such as alligators are protected by their tough skin. </li></ul><ul><li>Some harmless snakes have colors and patterns that are the same as some venomous snakes. </li></ul><ul><li>With their jaws they kill. </li></ul>

  6. 6. My Favorite Reptile Loggerhead Turtle <ul><li>Female may lay 5 clutches with a 100 eggs in each clutch. </li></ul><ul><li>Look for a large turtle with a big head. </li></ul><ul><li>Is 31-48 feet. </li></ul><ul><li>Costal bays, salt marshes, river mouths. </li></ul>
