  2. 2. Why does it matters to me?<br />Common problem many teenagers face.<br />People don’t know serious stress can ultimately be.<br />Can lead to serious health issues.<br />Personal experience with the harmful effects of ignoring signs of over stress.<br />
  3. 3. Thesis Statement<br />Stress on teens is a very serious issue that can lead to even more serious health problems and should not be ignored!<br /><ul><li>Mental Problems

  5. 5. Physical Problems</li></li></ul><li>Cause of stress on teens:<br />Physical Changes- obsession over self-image.<br />Social Changes and Pressures- attraction towards opposite sex<br />Academic Pressures- paying and getting accepted into college.<br />
  6. 6. Stress Overload!!!<br />How can we detect it?<br />What can it lead to? <br />Health risks include depression, anxiety, digestive problems, panic attacks and even suicide.<br />Increased physical illness, withdrawal from people, increased anger or irritable behavior.<br />
  7. 7. What can stress lead to?<br />Emotional effects include feelings of hopelessness and chronic feelings of worry and nervousness.<br />Mental problems include difficulty short-term and verbal memory and difficulty to pay attention.<br />Physical Problems- weight gain or loss, withdrawal from social situations and obesity.<br />

It’s just stress…<br />Teen stress is often overlooked because people tend to think that adolescents are over-dramatic.<br />Teens who suffer from stress aren’t encouraged to incorporate stress management skills in their lives.<br />Stress in teenagers is a climbing problem that can accelerate to more serious issues.<br />

A Serious Issue!<br />According to the American Institute of Stress in NY, 43% of all adolescents suffer adverse health effects due to stress.<br />75% of all visits to physicians are for stress-related disorders.<br />Some teens may feel so hopeless that they resort to alcohol and drug use and even suicide.<br />

Conclusion <br />As you have noticed teen stress is a serious issue with growing concerns that has been proven to lead to further health problems.<br />Stress affects many aspects of a teens’ life; mentally, emotionally and even physically.<br />Seriously stressed out teens’ of todays world shouldn’t be neglected!<br />
