DAY 11,050 feet high, 2.5 million rivets, 18,000 puddle iron pieces, weighs 10,000 tons, 7,300 tons of paint, 9 elevators, and 1671 steps later, I will enjoy a wonderful piece of architecture; La Tour Eiffel, pronounced toor ee-fell - The Eiffel Tower.Then to the Palais Garnier known as the Paris Opera, and is considered one of the most important structures in Paris of a 2,200 seat opera house. The stage accommodates up to 450 people at one time.
DAY 2The Louvre Museum, which is French for "ludicrously huge museum" where 35,000 works of art are stored such as Leonoardo Da Vincis masterpiece - The Mona Lisa and The Virgin and Child with St. Anne.Then a breath of fresh air in Jardin des Tuileries, a formal Paris garden, history from 1871 revolution which was destroyed and now remains an Italian style park filled with statues, flowers, fountain, greenery and shrubber with spectacular views.
DAY 3Visit the historical Mont St. Michel. Mont St. Michel is a mountain on top of an island featuring a very large castle built right into and on top of the hillside. The climb up the Escalier de Dentelle (Lace Staircase) to the abbey, will be a day itself :) 900 steps! :-oThen over to Notre Dame de Paris, on Ile de la Cité, known as Notre Dame in English is a 700 year old Gothic Cathedral from the nineteenth century. It is still used as a Roman Catholic cathedral. The name Notre Dame means "Our Lady"
DAY 4Vatican City also called the Holy See. Centered in St Peter’s Basilica and Piazza San Pietro, the capital of the Catholic world. Inside the Vatican city, there are 11 Vatican Museums. The Vatican museums are over 9 miles long, and it is said that if you spent only 1 minute admiring each painting it would take you 4 years to complete the circuit! Then a nice stroll in the Vatican Gardens a place where Popes meditate.
DAY 5A day in visiting Normandy battlefields and landing beaches of World War II. The Memorial, Pointe du Hoc, a German defense position that was heroically taken by US soldiers during World War II. Then to the American cemetery of Saint-Laurent, the final resting place of almost 10,000 soldiers. Over to Omaha Beach to reflect on the emotions history and visit the Visitors Center which describes the American soldiers operations on the famous beach in June 1944.
DAY 6My last night in Paris, I will take a dinner cruise along one of the worlds great rivers The Seine on a glass-covered deck boat; the Bateaux-Mouches (Mouche is fly in French, since the boats hover on the surface like flies). From the panoramic windows, we will see city light views of palaces, museums, and the Eiffel tower. A three-course French dinner prepared on board by Chef Gras with evening entertainment during dinner with a singer and band. BON APPETIT !
