The green computing

 1. 1. The Green Computing
Mark Gil Pineda
2. 2. Older Computers are composed of electronic wastes such as Lead, Barium and Zinc.
Disposal of such wastes is one of the issues in environmental safety
Older Computers produce too much heat that may affect global warming.
Today’s Situation
3. 3. Study or practice of manufacturing, manipulating, and disposal of computer peripherals without affecting or minimizing the hazardous effect of electronic wastes in the environment.
Also minimizing the amount of energy and heat in computer components.
The goal is to implement Recyclability to all computer components.
Green Computing
4. 4. The first 100% Green Pcomponent was invented by MicroPro in 1990s in Dublin, Ireland
Paul Maher is the one responsible for the design and implementation of the component.
The design started when Maher saw a girl disposing a computer component using a blowtorch without any protective gear.
History of Green Computing
5. 5. Maher conceptualize that such components should not be hazardous.
Maher said that “computers should be updatable, upgradeable, reusable, recyclable and at the end of the life of them we can replace the main board and start all over again.”
6. 6. Energy Analysis
7. 7. The chart above shows the energy consumption of the Normal PC in Normal Mode and a Green PC in Normal Mode.
The Normal PC consumes almost 10 times than a green PC
8. 8. Carbon-Free Computing
Reduces the amount of Carbon Heat produced by computers
Solar Powered Computing
Use of solar energy instead of electricity to power up computers
Lead Free Components
Reduce the amount of Lead in computer components specifically the Cathode Ray Tubes
Energy Efficient
Consume less energy than the normal pc
Implementation
