Studied with local master Jacob van Swanenburgh, then in Amsterdam with Pieter Lastman 3.Marries Saskia van Ulyenburgh, the cousin of a successful art dealer, which enhanced his career as many wealthy people were asking for portraits, and they were willing to pay well
  4. 4. <ul><li>Key Historical Events </li></ul><ul><li>Dutch conquers world trade from 1585-1740 </li></ul><ul><li>Spain signs treaty which cancels there production of arms, giving Dutch peace and artistic rule </li></ul><ul><li>Dutch and other smaller provinces form the Union of Utrecht </li></ul><ul><li>All of these events gave Dutch international art and commercial rule, allowing Rembrandt and others to get foreign supplies and influences from other parts of Europe and Asia </li></ul>
