  1. 2. <ul><li>Samurai are very important in Japanese society </li></ul><ul><li>A warrior had 3 main items to attack and defend themselves; swords, armor and bows. </li></ul><ul><li>The weapons depended on their ranking. </li></ul>
  2. 3. <ul><li>A samurai’s most prized possession </li></ul><ul><li>Was a symbol of a warriors power and position in society </li></ul><ul><li>“ Samurai slept with his sword under his pillow, if he lost his sword, he lost his honor” </li></ul><ul><li>A samurai’s sword weighs less than 3 pounds and in the sword there are over twelve folds of metal. </li></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>Contained various plates of armor for protection. </li></ul><ul><li>To find out a samurai’s ranking you can look at their kabuto (helmet), the fancier the kabuto the higher ranking the samurai is. </li></ul><ul><li>The suits contained a kote (sleeve armor), sode (shoulder plates), haidate (thigh guards), suneate (shin guards), shikoro (neck guard), and a kabuto. </li></ul>
  4. 5. <ul><li>Samurai bows (yumi) were made of wood faced with bamboo </li></ul><ul><li>Bowstrings were made of delicate plant fibre and coated in wax . </li></ul><ul><li>After bows were made they measured from about 5-8 feet. </li></ul><ul><li>The usage of the bows was called yabusome. </li></ul>
  5. 6. <ul><li>Even though samurai’s consider their sword to be their most prized possession , bows and armor are very important too. </li></ul><ul><li>Armor is a great way to tell a samurai’s ranking </li></ul><ul><li>Bows are also another great weapon as well as the swords. </li></ul><ul><li>So all of these are important in samurai life. </li></ul>
