  3. 3. SBEC Technology Applications Standards <ul><li>Standard I. All teachers use technology-related terms, concepts, data input strategies, and ethical practices to make informed decisions about current technologies and their applications. </li></ul><ul><li>Standard II. All teachers identify task requirements, apply search strategies, and use current technology to efficiently acquire, analyze, and evaluate a variety of electronic information. </li></ul><ul><li>Standard III. All teachers use task-appropriate tools to synthesize knowledge, create and modify solutions, and evaluate results in a way that supports the work of individuals and groups in problem-solving situations. </li></ul><ul><li>Standard IV. All teachers communicate information in different formats and for diverse audiences. </li></ul><ul><li>Standard V. All teachers know how to plan, organize, deliver, and evaluate instruction for all students that incorporates the effective use of current technology for teaching and integrating the Technology Applications Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) into the curriculum. </li></ul>

What is a STaR Chart? <ul><li>Assist teachers in determining professional development. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide data that feeds into the Texas Campus STaR Chart so that more accurate school information is gained and documented. </li></ul><ul><li>Determine funding priorities based on teacher and classroom needs. </li></ul><ul><li>Provide data that can support the need for grants or other resources. </li></ul><ul><li>Help conceptualize the campus or district vision of technology. </li></ul><ul><li>Assist campuses in documenting the use of No Child Left Behind, Title II, Part D formula and discretionary funds. </li></ul>
  5. 5. 4 Key Areas <ul><li>The Texas Teacher STaR Chart has been developed around the four key areas of the Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020 : </li></ul><ul><li>Teaching and Learning </li></ul><ul><li>Educator Preparation and Development </li></ul><ul><li>Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support </li></ul><ul><li>Infrastructure for Technology </li></ul><ul><li>The Texas Teacher STaR Chart is designed to help teachers, campuses, and districts determine their progress toward meeting the goals of the Long-Range Plan for Technology, as well as meeting the goals of their districts. </li></ul>

Summary <ul><li>Strength </li></ul><ul><li>Our principal and administration staff have provided professional development on technology integration into each discipline, we have had ongoing professional development trainings from both internal and external experts and online. They support technology 100%. </li></ul><ul><li>Weakness </li></ul><ul><li>Our students have limited access to the use of technology, because recently our computer lab was omitted, due to lack of space. Hamilton Middle School is a highly regarded school and our enrollment has increased throughout the years. We went from having a computer lab available to having limited access within some core classrooms and the school library. </li></ul>
