On This Day in U.S. History: 1783– The Treaty of Paris which ended the American Revolution was signed. Do Now 1. Copy page 6-9 on the table on the right onto the Table of Contents you picked up from the front of the room. 2. Put the following due dates in your planner 1. September 5th – ARQ #2 2. September 6th – Geography Quiz What are we doing today and why? • Setting up folders and notebooks in order to create a system that will keep our learning organized all year long.

Setting Up Notebooks and Folders • You have 2 things that you will need to bring to class each day: – Unit Folder: Contains all work and notes for the current unit. • You keep this organized using the FOLDER TABLE OF CONTENTS SHEET and the website. • Will be graded at the end of each unit. – Historian’s Notebook: Contains an atlas, directions for historical thinking exercises and a record of your learning for the year. • You will keep this organized using the website. • Can be spot graded at any time.   3. 3. Historian’s Notebook • Number the first 30 pages. Number both sides of the page. – Odd numbers are always on the right…even numbers are on the left. – You can number in any corner that you want. Tuesday, September 03, 2013
  4. 4. Turn to Page 11 • Write the following neatly in the center of the page: Historical Atlas of the United States 1607-1877 Tuesday, September 03, 2013
  5. 5. • Cut out around all of the maps that you got last Thursday. Glue them to the following pages. Label each page like the example – 13 – Political Map of the U.S. – 15 – Physical Map of the U.S. – 17 – Northeast Region – 19 – Southern Region – 21 – Midwest Region – 23 – Western Region Tuesday, September 03, 2013
  6. 6. Sticker Time • Place a sticker on the front that says – Your name – Historian’s Notebook Tuesday, September 03, 2013

Unit 1 Folder • Put the pages you have in order based on how they are listed on the Table of Contents sheet. • Place them in your folder in the brads. • Place the Table of Contents in one of the pockets. Don’t put it in the brads. • Place a sticker on the front that says – Your Name – Unit 1: European Exploration and Settlement Tuesday, September 03, 2013
