3. 1. I know that if we want to be healthy we must move. What forms of activity are
recommended at my age?
For schoolchildren any physical activity is good. Not only swimming, running and a game
with the ball but also a walk is an excellent form of movement. You should be adapted to the
seasons and spend a lot of time on fresh air.
2. Some people think that Physical Education at school (four hours per week) is a real
effort. Is it enough for proper functioning of the organism?
Physical Education at school is the minimum. Movement is the best remedy for our organism.
It perfectly improves our mood.
3. What would you advice my parents to encourage them to do sport?
Parents don't have to practise sport professionally. It is enough to go cycling with children, go
to the swimming pool, ice skating or simply walking. We ought to remember that every kind
of movement is significant.
4. My mother goes to the gym. Can I join her?
School-aged children may attend with their parents to the gym, but they can't do forcible
exercises. Bikes and running tracks are good for them.
5. We, girls, particularly care about a beautiful shape. What shall we do to avoid faulty
posture?
First of all, we cannot slouch. Pay attention how you sit at the desk , in front of the television,
computer screen or how you carry your backpack. Don't skip Physical Education lessons.
6. We always hear that you will be healthy if you eat properly. Could you indicate
several principles of good nutrition?
Correct nutrition is to provide the organism corresponding quantity and quality of food. We
should eat regularly five meals during the day. To be healthy and to function properly our
organism needs proteins, carbohydrates, fats, mineral salts and vitamins. Proper diets should
include varied selection of products from each group of nutrients.
4. 7. How should we nourish to learn good at school and be fit? What should an everyday
diet for students of primary school include ?
A diet for students of primary school should include various corn products. Such products as
meat, butter, fish and dairy are indispensable because of protein, calcium, phosphorus and
vitamin D. You need them to grow. Fruit and vegetables are also very significant. Your daily
diet ought to be various and include proper amount of energy.
8. Does the diet for a child differ from the diet of an adult?
The diet for a child is the same like for an adult. Nourishment provides us energy but it is
different for everyone of us. It depends on age, type of work and condition of health.
Students of primary school should provide 1800 calories to their organisms, and adults 2500
calories.
9.My mum claims that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Is she right?
Mum is always right. No one should start a day without breakfast. It is proved that people
who eat breakfast concentrate and learn better and are in better physical condition.
10. What kind of breakfast is the healthiest?
Every breakfast should include complex carbohydrates to have energy for longer. We cannot
omit wholegrain products. Sandwich of wholemeal bread with ham, cheese and egg will
provide calcium and protein. All of them cause that you will be strong.
11. Every child loves sweets. They include sugar and sugar is energy. Is it necessary to limit
them?
Children need energy but not from sweets. After consuming something sweet our bloodglucose level immediately increases and our brain gets the signal: 'I am full up'. There are
monosaccharides in sweets which are quickly metabolized by organism and they give a
feeling of satiety for a short moment. They include only 'empty calories'. If we eat many
sweets - we lose our appetite. Fresh fruit and fruit juice should be the healthiest sweet
snacks.
