Bni Presentation May 2009

  1. 1. Internet Marketing 33% Search Marketing Keywords Pay Per Click (PPC) 58% On Line Businesses E Commerce 75% Design 17% Domain Names 26% Responded 74% Know it all
  2. 2. Includes all of the following Internet Marketing Online Marketing Search Marketing Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) They are all the same thing! Pay Per Click – more focused and you pay
  3. 3. How Does It Work? Search Engine robots “crawl” the Internet and create Directories of all the websites they find based on the words and terms built into those websites Using “words” and “terms” people search the Search Engines for Information about Products and Services
  4. 4. The “words” and “terms” used are called “keywords” The Search Engines know them all - all that people use - millions of them! So - Internet Marketing is “Marketing or selling your products and services, on line, utilising keywords and terms that people use to find products and services”
  5. 5. Facts The Search Engines know the Keywords and terms people are actually using to find your products and services How do we find out what they are and if they are relevant to my products and services
  6. 6. Google is the only search Engine (that I know of) that currently provides keywords and terms on request. We have software that ◦ Does this for us, and ◦ Sorts and manipulates them to get the most relevant words and terms for your business
  7. 7. The relevant keywords and terms must be built into your website so the Search Engines can connect to your site when people search for them.
  8. 8. Online Business’s are websites built specifically for business purposes. They are not “brochure ware” sites. e.g. A website that promotes the sale of accommodation would include “forms” for people to make a booking, a gallery to see what the rooms and surrounds look like, and a location map so clients can find there way there.
  9. 9. The Future “Broadcast or Push Marketing” is history. ◦ Email ◦ Newsletters ◦ Turned into SPAM & caused Govt’s to create laws to control it – and it got worse! Social Networks are likely to change the way business is actually done ◦ Build relationships ◦ Build business x
  10. 10. Pay Per Click ◦ Is a bidding system for “keywords” and “terms” ◦ You pay when someone clicks on your advert ◦ You set your daily “spend” ◦ You control your budget Reporting ◦ Number of “Impressions” ◦ Number of “Clicks” (This is when you pay) ◦ Expense
  11. 11. Most “Clicked” Paid Advert - Google Advertising Promoted Organic Results
  12. 12. Your domain is your identification If you have an important brand name register it Should include one and, if possible, two keywords (often forgotten part of marketing) Make sure you actually “Own” your domain i.e. it is registered in YOUR name

  14. 14. Should I have a: .com .net .ws Your choice, if you trade internationally .com is OK, if you trade locally identifies you as being a bonafide Australian company
