  2. 2. St Marco Square<br />The center of life in Venice, a popu-lar meeting place where people can stroll, listen to music, sipping coffee, browsing in shops in the plaza or to feed the great number of pigeons in the square.<br />
  3. 3. El Campanario<br />Is near the St Marco Square. Is actually a copy of the original ninth-century bell tower which collapsed in 1902. There is a lift to the top.<br />
  4. 4. The Basilica of San Marco<br /> It is a masterpiece of Byzantine architecture. <br /> Built in 830 AD, was <br /> originally a chapel<br />  for "Doges". <br /> The present basilica <br /> dates from the eleventh century and contains <br /> some magnificent<br />  mosaics.<br />

Ducale Square<br />Located next tot he <br /> basilica and was the residence of the "Doges“<br /> and the seat of<br /> government. We also <br /> find here the Bridge of <br /> Sighs, a Baroque stone <br /> bridge built in the seventeenth century that connects the Doge's Palace with the old prison.<br />
  6. 6. Rialto Bridge<br />Located in the middle of the road of the Grand Canal and was built in 1588 by Antonio de <br /> Ponte. It has a double<br /> row of shops that <br /> skirts the bridge is a tourist attraction.<br />
  7. 7. Basilica of Santa Maria of Health<br />It is considered the <br /> most splendid church <br /> after San Marcos.<br />The real name is Santa Maria della Salute.<br />The Salute is a vast, octagonal building with two domes and a pair of picturesque bell-towers at the back. <br />
  8. 8. The Gallery of Fine Arts<br />Located in the Grand Canal bridge <br />accademmia. It has a wonderful collection of Venetian art by Canaletto, <br />Guardi, Bellini, <br /> Tintoretto and Titian.<br />
  9. 9. Guggenheim Collection<br />Peggy Guggenheim <br /> bought the Palazzo <br />Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal in 1951 <br /> to house his collection<br />  of modern art.<br />
  10. 10. The Great School of San Rocco<br />Was one of the great <br /> Venetian guilds and  <br /> offers 56 paintings by <br /> Tintoretto in the <br /> opulent interior .<br />
