A standard is a document that provides
requirements, specifications, guidelines or
characteristics that can be used consistently
to ensure that materials, products, processes
and services are fit for their purpose. There
are over 19,500 International Standards
issued by ISO or their members
ISO International Standards ensure that
products and services are safe, reliable and
of good quality.
For business, they are strategic tools that
reduce costs by minimizing waste and errors,
and increasing productivity. They help
companies to access productivity.
New markets, level the playing field for
developing countries and facilitate free and
fair global trade.
Conformity assessment is the process used to show
that a product,
service or system meets specified requirements.
These requirements are likely to be contained in an
ISO standard. But, ISO itself does not perform
conformity assessments.
Showing that a product, service or system meets
certain requirements has a number of benefits.
It provides consumers with added confidence.
It gives the company a competitive edge.
It helps regulators ensure that health, safety or
environmental conditions are met.
The main forms of conformity assessment are
certification, inspection and testing. Although testing
is the most widely used, certification is the best
known.
Certification by an accredited independent third party body provides an
assurance to customers that the claims that are being made by the
customer can be substantiated.
The regulations governing an accredited certification body, or Registrar,
mean that the certificated customer has been rigorously audited to the
standard(s)
Furthermore, ongoing audits, on a regular basis, provide further assurance
that the customer, not only has a system, but that the system is being
maintained.
The display of the approval by printing a recognized logo on the
letterheads, brochures etc. clearly advertises the credentials of the
certified company.
Potential purchasers of the customer can review, when selecting suppliers
of goods and services.

The International Organization for Standardization's ISO
9001:2008 series describes a revised set of standards
for a Quality Management System based on process
model, with an emphasis on achieving customer
satisfaction for any general product or service.
Organizations can participate in a continuing
certification process to ISO 9001:2008 to demonstrate
their compliance with the standard, which includes a
requirement for continual (i.e. planned) improvement
of the QMS.

OHSAS 18001 is the international Occupation Health
and Safety Assessment Series specification that aims
to control the potential hazards within an
organization. OHSAS 18001 has been developed to be
compatible with the ISO 9001 (Quality Management
System) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management
System). It was formulated to the Management help
organizations for establishing occupational health and
safety policies and objectives.

Application/Enquiry
Client submits the application form to B.V.Quality (Application for
Certification)Review of Application by B.V.Quality.
B.V.Quality reviews the application to check if the requisite services can
be provided and accordingly prepares the quotation/ estimate and the
contract (Certification audit contract).Audit planning
Once the contract is signed, BVQCPL makes the audit programme and
inform the client Assessment
Initial certification includes two stages assessment.
The assessment is carried out by the team at the sites against the
applicable criteria. The report is provided to client identifying the
compliance level including any non conformities.
Client submits the implemented or proposed
action based on the classification of non-
conformity, B.V.Quality reviews the actions.
B.V.Quality takes certification decision based
on the report submitted by the audit team. If
decision is in favor of grant of certification
Certificate is Issued to the client (see sample
certificate)

  • 18. Application/Enquiry Client submits the application form to B.V.Quality (Application for Certification)Review of Application by B.V.Quality. B.V.Quality reviews the application to check if the requisite services can be provided and accordingly prepares the quotation/ estimate and the contract (Certification audit contract).Audit planning Once the contract is signed, BVQCPL makes the audit programme and inform the client Assessment Initial certification includes two stages assessment. The assessment is carried out by the team at the sites against the applicable criteria. The report is provided to client identifying the compliance level including any non conformities.
  • 19. Client submits the implemented or proposed action based on the classification of non- conformity, B.V.Quality reviews the actions. B.V.Quality takes certification decision based on the report submitted by the audit team.
