Hook's Apparatus

  1. 1. Cairo University Faculty of Engineering Aeronautics and Aerospace Dept.
  2. 2. Hook’s Apparatus (المشنقة)
  3. 3. Function To investigate Hooke's Law. Calculation stiffness of spring.
  4. 4. Scientific Idea Most springs obey Hook's law, which states that the force with which the spring pushes back is linearly proportional to the distance from its equilibrium length: F =- k x, where F is the resulting force vector - the magnitude and direction of the restoring force the spring exerts k is the spring constant or force constant of the spring. x is the displacement vector - the distance and direction in which the spring is deformed
  5. 5. How does it work ?
