  17. Instead of planning and building, focus on launching…
  18. Launch first, launch fast
  19. You should ship in days… not months or years
  20. Learn to bootstrap and keep it lean rather than seek credit
  21. The faster the launch, the less money you burn…
  22. …the lower the risk
  23. Your new project is not a business yet… it’s just a set of experiments
  24. The more experiments… the better
  25. It’s much easier to steer a bicycle when it’s moving…
  26. Almost every assumption you have about your business will be wrong…
  27. Until your customer opens their wallet
  28. 2 VALIDATEYOUR IDEAS
  29. Simply being passionate about your idea is not enough anymore
  30. It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking passion + idea = success
  31. Stress test your ideas
  32. Start with a list of all your ideas and then focus on reducing them down
  33. Use all available tools to validate your ideas
  34. Share your ideas: the more you share your ideas, the better they become
  35. Talk to people! As many as possible
  36. Seek out honest, insightful opinion
  37. Eliminate weak ideas until you are left only with the validated ones
  38. Niche down on the winners to get new angles on your best ideas
  39. But don’t get hung up on ideas, a half- baked idea is better than nothing

  48. Don’t go looking for gaps in the market…
  49. Find out what’s broken…
  50. You’re selling a solution, not a product or service
  51. People buy on emotion and justify with logic. Seek emotional drivers.
  52. Build relationships with people and they will open up to you
  53. Build a persona of your customer. Name them.
  54. Write your copy and marketing messages as if you were talking to that person directly…
  55. 4 BUILDYOUR MVP
  56. Many successful startups launched without a product
  57. Successful MVP development is a two-way process…
  58. Development is a cycle, measuring, learning, improving
  59. Get into the habit of split testing everything
  60. Measure customer interaction with every version of your product
  61. 5 GET OUT AND HUSTLE
  62. When it comes to marketing, Remember this…
  63. Make the goal of every interaction to get people onto your mailing list
  64. Your mailing list is the cornerstone of your marketing strategy
  65. Once on that list, be useful… Educate and connect rather than sell
  66. Engage through conversation
  67. Only when you have their trust, will they give you their attention
  68. Your profits will come from your ability to nurture relationships
  69. But… there’s only so much you can achieve stuck behind the computer
  70. Nothing can replace the power of “getting out there”
  71. Don’t go looking for customers…
  72. Find people who want your product already
  73. No scratch that… People who need your product
  74. Connect with your own personal ecosystem of contacts
  75. Reach out to people with whom you have an existing relationship
  76. Start with the people who share a similar passion to you…
  77. If you don’t know who they are, just look in your mail inbox
  78. Grow your business around this early group of Fans
  79. And finally…
  80. Connect with likeminded entrepreneurs who’ll help you grow your business…
  81. Avoid competition until you’re big enough
  82. Get comfortable with failure
  83. Be prepared to wait a long time… there are no short-cuts to success
  84. Do something that scares you …every day
  85. And if it doesn’t make your heart beat faster… don’t do it
