Throughout development, SAGE library and researcher advisory boards provided real-time feedback, incorporated into each iteration of our new site. The end result has proven to serve today’s academic research needs – with agile navigation throughout our nearly 600 journals.
- Redesigned main portal with targeted options for improved navigation by a variety of user types
- Custom taxonomy created for our journals – for discipline-driven search. Broad matrix of terms to organize our nearly 600 journals, with 4 parent categories and 53 sub-categories within each, for topics and journals.
- Same taxonomy applies to browse and alerting features.
- Refocused journal sites to treat articles as new home pages – to ensure easy access to key journal services and research tools. Feature hideaway – menus retain your preferences within a session. Keyword search, to save researchers a few steps to query terms against the journal’s archive.
- Abstract pop-up keeps users in context as they browse TOCs and search results
- Tag-along navigation – follows a reader throughout the full text of an article, providing easy access to key article services, such as citation information and article navigation. Image viewing options – resizing and PowerPoint download.
- New designs allow for more agile feature changes – with widget technology allowing easier development of pages to fit user needs
