If you like the thought of hyper-productivity, but can never quite get a lock on how to make it happen, then you're like most of us. Let's be real – you probably don't have absolute control over things that are happening around you and the tasks which need to be completed.
Some business people prefer things that way. They love the thought of playing their business like they spend their life – fast and loose. They adore being able to make last minute decisions, having their options open, and avoiding structure like the plague. Unfortunately, those same people tend to spend a lot of time feeling overwhelmed, underprepared and don't know how to make a dent in what feels like an ever-growing to-do list.
We're here to help! We know that Rebels like you deserve more than the long hours and sleepless nights that come from failing to plan. (Which typically translates into a failure to get stuff done.)
We're thrilled to offer some of our productivity hacks with you, and we hope that you'll be a better business person as a result. There's nothing we want more than to have a kickass group of Bizness Rebels doing what they do best in the business world.
2. Are you a well-organised plan lover?
Living a structured life?
Working best with schedules, timetables
and deadlines?
If you are, we truly envy you...
3. But if you are anything like us, you have those
moments of not having all of it under control.
You love spontaneity and last-minute
decisions.
4. You hate being restricted with
too much structure.
You value having your options
open to experience.
It’s so exciting. Isn’t it?
5. Well, not always.
When you lose control at work, the
lack of structure can get pretty
messy. And not exciting at all.
6. At some point it’s not spontaneity anymore.
You are responding, reacting to whatever is
happening, instead of owning your time and
being proactive.
7. If you obey all the rules,
you miss all the fun
(Katharine Hepburn).
8. Design
YEAH, WE TOTALLY GET IT
- RULES ARE BORING.
AND YOU ARE NOT BORING,
YOU ARE A REBEL.
SO WHAT A REBEL CAN DO?
Y O U R O W N
R U L E S
9. Don’t care what everybody else is thinking or
doing. Check out few tricks, adapt them your
way and find out what’s working for you.
Treat your productivity like a fun experiment.
10. To make your busy life easier, we picked up a
few rebel-style productivity hacks.
Go ahead & check them out
11. 1. Start experimenting
In the next few days record what you do.
Set an alarm in your phone to beep every 2
hours. When it does note down what is it that
you were doing for the last two hours.
12. This fun task will give you a pretty cool
overlook on how your day really goes by.
Now you can see what activity takes your time
and if you really spend that much time on
social media.
Cool, huh?
13. 2. Rebel-style planning
Just sit down and start daydreaming. Imagine what
you would do if there were no limits. Be a true rebel.
Don’t withhold your imagination. Don’t worry about
what others might think of it. Think big. About the
most ambitious vision. Hell Yeah!
Write it down. If you can’t describe it - just draw it,
create a mind-map, a collage or create a Pinterest
board. Whatever works for you, but get it all down. A
written goal brings clarity and focus.
14. 3. Be busy doing the right
stuff
Choose top 5 goals you want to accomplish this year.
Limiting your goals to 5 can be a pain in the butt to
go through. But it will force you to think about your
priorities. In business, knowing exactly what is the
really important stuff to do can help you work smart,
not hard. Oh, and no cheating - don’t commit to
doing anything else before you achieve those 5 goals.
15. 4. Routines can be fun
Start with the morning routine. Do something that is pure pleasure &
takes less than a few minutes. For example, get yourself a small
smoothie. When you’re done drinking, it’s your trigger to immediately
start working. Instead of a drink, you can chose a song, an article or a
short video. Whatever works for you - just don’t use it as an excuse to
procrastinate.
Once you’re done working, again do something nice for yourself. Why?
The habit loop is made of 3 elements: (1) Trigger (sets off the behavior),
(2) Habit (the behavior) and (3) Reward (the benefits). So you need to
finish with a reward. Even if you screw up a bit and didn’t do it all, you
still deserve the reward. Nice, huh?
16. 5. Work hard, play hard
Split your work into two sessions: work and break. Limited time will
maximise your productivity. How cool is that?
Average human body works best for 90 min + 30 min break. But you can
set different intervals - it’s up to you. 90 min can be broken down to 3 x
30 min (Pomodoro Technique): 25 min work + 5 min break. Remember:
don’t skip the break, your body needs it!
17. Is that all? No, it’s not.
