  2. 2. Introduction • Dinosaurs were reptiles that lived long ago. • They were a group of reptiles that could walk on land. • Just like elephants and ostriches, dinosaurs walked upright. • Their name means “terrible lizards.”
  3. 3. Palaeontologist • Many dinosaur bones have been found by farmers and rock collectors. • They get the help of an expert to dig them up. • These experts are called Palaeontologists. Did you know that they have found dinosaur bones in Australia?
  4. 4. • In 1963 a farmer who lived near the town called Muttaburra in Queensland found some weird looking bones. • The bones had been scattered around the paddocks by cows! Muttaburrasaurus This is Doug Langdon who found the Muttaburrasaurus bones.
  5. 5. • The Muttaburrasuarus belonged to a group of dinosaurs called ornithopods. • They were plant eaters who walked around on their back legs. • They lived 100 million years ago.
  6. 6. Elliott • In 1999 a farmer on a sheep station in Queensland discovered a dinosaur thigh bone. • These bones came from the biggest dinosaur ever found in Australia. The yellow part on the picture shows what part of the thigh bone Dave Elliott found.
