  5. 5. <ul><li>Be in good academic standing (no F’s!) </li></ul><ul><li>Have at least a collective “B” average in chorus. </li></ul><ul><li>Attend all required concerts. </li></ul><ul><li>Have a positive record of behavior, including: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>No more than one day of OSS total </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>No more than 3 days of ISS total </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>No detention, referrals, or phone calls home from Mrs. Nelson after January 5, 2009 </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>NO EXCEPTIONS! NO ARGUMENTS! </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Participate in all rehearsals to prepare for the festival </li></ul><ul><li>Turn in permission forms and pay (or fund-raise) any financial commitments required to go on the trip. </li></ul>Field Trips (Chorus Only)

  7. 7. <ul><li>Come into the room quietly </li></ul><ul><li>Dispose of your gum! Then collect your materials and have a seat quietly </li></ul><ul><li>Begin on the assignment found on the board, monitor or overhead </li></ul><ul><li>When the timer goes off, you must be in your seat or you are considered tardy! </li></ul>Com i n g i n
  8. 8. <ul><li>Each student receives two tardies a quarter. This will begin next week!. </li></ul><ul><li>Any tardies after the free one are subject to consequences. </li></ul><ul><li>If you happen to be tardy, enter quietly, place your pass on the piano, and sit quietly with appropriate materials </li></ul>T a r d i e s
  9. 9. <ul><li>If we have group activities that require talking, I will clap my hands or sing a rhythm. When you hear the rhythm, clap or sing it back to me so I know you heard it. Then sit quietly and wait for instructions. </li></ul>G e t t i n g y o u r A t t e n t i o n
  10. 10. <ul><li>If you need to go to the restroom, please raise your hand and ask: “May I please use the restroom?” </li></ul><ul><li>I will let you know if it’s okay or not </li></ul><ul><li>Come up and have me sign your agenda </li></ul><ul><li>Sign out on the clipboard by the door (DON’T FORGET!!) </li></ul><ul><li>When you come back, enter quietly and have a seat </li></ul><ul><li>NO AGENDA=NO BREAK! </li></ul>R e s t r o o m

In this instance, you may leave when the bell rings. </li></ul><ul><li>If I feel it is necessary, I may hold the class past the 30 second mark, or even past the bell. REFRAIN FROM ASKING WHAT TIME IT IS OR IF YOU CAN LEAVE! </li></ul><ul><li>I will write tardy passes at my discretion. </li></ul>Di s m i s s a l

  13. 13. <ul><li>93-100 = A </li></ul><ul><li>85-92 = B </li></ul><ul><li>77-84 = C </li></ul><ul><li>70-76 = D </li></ul><ul><li>69 and below = F </li></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>45 % = Classroom participation and classwork </li></ul><ul><li>45 % = Tests, major quizzes, projects and concerts </li></ul><ul><li>10% = Homework/practicing </li></ul>P e r c e n t a g e s
  15. 15. <ul><li>Obviously, by now, you have figured that participation is important. </li></ul><ul><li>You earn a weekly participation grade of 100pts. which calculates to 20pts. a day. </li></ul><ul><li>Any infractions will result in points subtracted from your daily grade. </li></ul>P a r t c i p a t i o n
  16. 16. <ul><li>Not ready for class = 5 pts. off </li></ul><ul><li>Not warming up = 7 pts. off </li></ul><ul><li>Not using correct posture = 5 pts. off </li></ul><ul><li>Not participating = 20 pts. off </li></ul><ul><li>Gum = 10 pts. off plus consequence </li></ul><ul><li>Talking = 5 pts. off per infraction plus consequence </li></ul><ul><li>… Plus anything else appropriate. </li></ul><ul><li>I will try to add points for good stuff!   17. 17. <ul><li>There are two kinds of classroom tests: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Written </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Singing </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Singing tests are taken in groups of two or three during class. </li></ul><ul><li>If a student does not wish to take the test during class, he/she must arrange with Mrs. Nelson an acceptable test time within 3 days of the test or no credit is awarded. </li></ul>T e s t s
  18. 18. <ul><li>Concerts are required for two test grades. </li></ul><ul><li>You must attend the entire concert to receive full credit. </li></ul><ul><li>You receive one grade for using concert etiquette, and one grade for performing. </li></ul><ul><li>Concerts already scheduled for this year are Dec. 18 and May 14. </li></ul><ul><li>Concert dress is Chorus polo/black pants. </li></ul>C o n c e r t s
  19. 19. <ul><li>Homework is assigned each Friday and due on Tuesday. </li></ul><ul><li>Homework may consist of theory worksheets or reflections. </li></ul><ul><li>All homework assignments may be found online as well. </li></ul>Ho m e w o r k
  20. 20. <ul><li>This year, each class will have a say in making the rules. </li></ul><ul><li>Let’s answer the following questions, first in groups of three, then with the entire class. </li></ul><ul><li>You will have two minutes with each question. </li></ul><ul><li>We may not finish today, and thats okay! </li></ul>I need your help!
