  2. 2. <ul><li>Born in Ulm, Württemberg, Germany March 14th, 1879 </li></ul><ul><li>Physicist </li></ul><ul><li>one of the greatest thinkers in science </li></ul><ul><li>not such a good student when he was young </li></ul><ul><li>Although Albert had early speech difficulties, he was a top student in elementary school. </li></ul><ul><li>He struggled to get into Zürich Polytechnic, failing the entrance exam once. </li></ul><ul><li>After graduating he got a job at the Swiss Patent Office in 1902. </li></ul><ul><li>This job gave him the time to do some of his most significant work, writing theoretic papers on physics, most notably his theories of relativity . </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>In 1909,he joined the faculty of University of Zürich as an associate professor. </li></ul><ul><li>He also became a professor at the German University in Prague and in Zürich Polytechnic. </li></ul><ul><li>He began working at the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin in 1914 </li></ul><ul><li>Theory of relativity was published in 1916 </li></ul><ul><li>He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1921 </li></ul>

USA <ul><li>In 1933, Albert Einstein left Germany to escape the harsh treatment of Jews in Germany </li></ul><ul><li>worked at the Institute of Advanced Study at Princeton University in New Jersey. </li></ul><ul><li>1940: became a U.S. citizen </li></ul><ul><li>During World War II, Einstein wrote a letter to President Franklin D. Roosevelt expressing his concerns about the atomic bomb. </li></ul><ul><li>retire from the institute in 1945 </li></ul><ul><li>He gave lectures and speeches and worked on theories. </li></ul>

His Family <ul><li>Father: Hermann Einstein  salesman and engineer </li></ul><ul><li>Mother: Pauline Einstein </li></ul><ul><li>First wife: Mileva  two sons: Hans Albert and Eduard </li></ul><ul><li>The couple divorced in 1919. </li></ul><ul><li>That same year, he married his cousin Elsa Löwenthal. </li></ul>

His death <ul><li>He was asked to become the president of Israel in 1952 but turned the position down </li></ul><ul><li>hospitalized with stomach pains several times and his health began to decline. </li></ul><ul><li>died on April 18, 1955 </li></ul><ul><li>named Person of the Century by Time magazine in 2000. </li></ul>
