  3. 3. Voices and Experience through Service: Engaging Persons with Disabilities in National Community Service <ul><li>3 year grant in partnership with Indiana University and Transcend, Inc. Maryland </li></ul><ul><li>Goals: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>To engage youth with disabilities in service to positively impact their successful transition to adult life </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To engage communities in a reciprocal relationship with youth with disabilities </li></ul></ul>

What the grant can provide: <ul><li>Professional Development </li></ul><ul><li>Workshops (oral histories, digital story-telling, video, etc…) </li></ul><ul><li>Funding for projects including materials, equipment, field-trips,etc… </li></ul><ul><li>Opportunity to contribute to national study </li></ul><ul><li>Funding to attend conferences and present your work with students </li></ul>

Youth-Adult Relationships <ul><li>At the end of 3 years: </li></ul><ul><li>40 youth introduced to service-learning through oral histories and relationships with veterans </li></ul><ul><li>30 youth will contribute to oral history/memory projects with veterans </li></ul><ul><li>24 youth will submit oral histories to National Veterans History Project </li></ul>

Service Learning in Transition Plans <ul><li>At the end of 3 years: </li></ul><ul><li>60 youth will have service-learning in their transition plan </li></ul><ul><li>55 youth will have service-learning /self-determination training </li></ul><ul><li>40 youth participate in service-learning experience </li></ul>
