  3. 3. <ul><li>New York is a state in the Northeastern region of the United States. It is the nation's third most populous state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south, and by Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont to the east. </li></ul>
  4. 4. The Boroughs Bronx: 1.364.566 inhabitants. Brooklyn: 2.511.408 inhabitants. Manhattan:1.593.200 inhabitants. Queens: 2.256.576 inhabitants. Staten Island: 475.014 inhabitants.
  5. 5. Flag of the New York City The flag of the city of New York was created in 1915. It is composed by three bands, whose colours are blue, white and orange. In the center, there is the stamp of the city.
  6. 6. The Seal of New York City The stamp of the city of New York, is composed by: Eagle (Bald Eagle): it is the symbol of the New York State. Indian: it represents the native Indians who were in the country. Sailor with tools of navigation: it represents the arrival. The beavers: it is the symbol of the Dutch East India Company, the first company established in New York. The arms of a mill and the barrels: represent the first industry dedicated to flour. The date 1625: the first Dutch arrival.
  7. 7. The Brooklyn Bridge <ul><li>The Brooklyn bridge has a length of 1834 meters (6016 feet). It joins the island of Brooklyn with Manhattan. The construction began in 1869 and was finished fourteen years later, on May 24th, 1883. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>Previously along the bridge there were horse carriages and trains. Today it possesses 6 lines for cars, a subway line and a top walk for pedestrians and bicycles. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Central Park Central Park is a public park placed in Manhattan. The park has a rectangular shape and it is almost twice bigger than Monaco and almost eight times more than the Vatican City. With approximately 25 million visitors a year, Central Park is the most widely visited park of the United States. It contains several artificial lakes, two skating on ice rinks and areas of grass used for diverse sports activities.
  10. 10. The Empire State <ul><li>The Empire State is the most famous building of New York. It was built at a great speed, with an average of 4.5 floors a week. It was completed in one year and 45 days. It is 443.2 meters high, including the antenna of 62 meters, and has 102 floors. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>More than 2.5 million people visit the building every year. The observatories are on the floors 86 and 102 from where it is possible to see all the city. The 30 top floors are illuminated with different colors depending on the seasons of the year and the diverse celebrations. </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>The Empire state showed the colors of the Spanish flag when the Spanish footbal national team won the World Cup in South Africa. </li></ul>
