  5. 5. •Wrong AssumptionHere the speaker or the sender of themessage is having wrong ideas ormisunderstanding about the knowledgeof thelistener.
  6. 6. •Varied PerceptionSome people fail to realize that differentpeoplemay see and understand similarconditions indifferent ways according to theirdifferentbackgrounds and societies and this mayresult ina barrier.
  7. 7. •Wrong InferenceWhen people are having prejudices orpartialities, negative attitude tosomething orsomeone, they are having wronginferencesfor the people around and it may createabarrier.For e.g., if you dislike any of yourrelative, youwill avoid meeting or interacting withthat

  11. 11. • Lack of Non-verbalCommunicationThe speaker should have properNVC tosupport communication. Lack of itmakescommunication ineffective.The use of gestures, expressions,charts,posters etc. should be done toenhance theeffect of communication.
  12. 12.  Selective CommunicationDuring the communication, if you listenortake part only in selected areas or youtalkonly with selected people and avoidcommunication with others, it may createaBarrier.
  13. 13.  Poor Listening SkillsSometimes people are so deeply involved inthinking or doing any activity that they donotpay attention to the communication goingaround. This is known as poor listeningskills.For e.g., during any business meeting anemployee is thinking about holidays, he/shewill not listen to the discussion going on.
  14. 14.  Various CulturesPeople from different cultures, societiesorbackgrounds will have different thinkingand ideologies. Sometimes lack ofknowledge of other cultures will lead tomiscommunication.Cross cultural knowledge should be therefor effective communication.

  17. 17.  Use of Inappropriate MediaWhile choosing the medium ofcommunication, one should keep in mindthe requirements, advantages,disadvantages of that particular medium.If the medium is wrongly chosen thecommunication will fail ormiscommunication will occur
  18. 18.  Information OverloadIf in any institution the employees aregiven inadequate data or huge amount ofdata, it will create information overload .This will create unnecessary stress in theminds which will result ultimately inineffective communication.
  19. 19.  Too Many Transfer StationsThe sender sends any message and itreachesto the receiver via many transfer stations,themessage will get distorted or will bechanged.
