  4. 4. Personal Appeal <ul><li>Suggesting that this product or message will directly help the target. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Glittering Generalities <ul><li>Using glowing terms to promote a person. </li></ul><ul><li>NO evidence is offered to support the idea. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Name Calling <ul><li>The opposite of Glittering Generalities </li></ul><ul><li>Using word or image association against a person or group. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Loaded Words or Images <ul><li>Using emotionally charged language or images to persuade the target. </li></ul>
  8. 8. Card Stacking <ul><li>Only the facts that will make the target react are included. </li></ul><ul><li>Any facts that might hurt the argument are ignored </li></ul>
