  2. 2. INTRODUCTION Corruption in India is not a new things. Corruption in India is as old as Ramayana, when evil giant Ravana bribed a guardian of hell to avoid Indian epic. The word corruption means the destruction, running or a nation. A corrupt society stops valuing integrity, virtue or moral principles. Corruption is an age old phenomena, Selfishness and greed are the two main causes of corruption. Corruption has prevailed in all forms of government.
  3. 3. • Hats off Anna Hazare. India is not Anna, nor is Anna India. Call him nothing but a symbol, if you must. But spot the good news from Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. • Anna’s historic victory is a celebration of the people’s power. Prime minister Manmohan Singh was once the ‘darling’ of middle class. He has lost that supports as men, women, children spilled out on the streets in protest. People power triumphs in anticorruption campaign
  4. 4. • Tens of thousands of people have joined peaceful protests across the country. • Anna Hazare has raised our inner conscience. • India has a long history of civil movements, topped by Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent protest that led to the end of British colonial rule. • Corruption has been worsening in India 0ver the years. Anti-corruption campaign awakeness India’s middle class
  5. 5. India’s anti-corruption campaign tainted by scandal # India’s main opposition party, which is campaigning on anticorruption values, has asked a party leader to step-down over links to an illegal mining scam. # Indian main opposition party, the BJP, has asked its most prominent member in the south to stand down after he was formally implicated in an illegal mining scandal. # India has suffered significant reputation damage in the past year, with corruption allegation against government ministers and bureaucrats.
  6. 6. Scenes from India’s Historic Anticorruption campaign *The movement by Anna’s freedom revolution . @ Here’s a couple reason why 1. The movement had the full supports of India’s masses-urban and rural –super rich, middle class. 2. The movement(with millions of people participating)was based on Gandhi an principles and was completely peaceful and nonviolent.
  7. 7. About LokPal  Deficiencies in our present anti-corruption systems  Jan Lokpal Bill will improve existing anti-corruption systems Our critique of Government’s lokpal bill Should the Judges of the High court and the supreme court be brought within the purview of the propped Lokpal?
  8. 8. What is Jan LokPal Bill The Jan Lokpal Bil (citizen’s ombudsman Bill) is a draft anticorruption bill drawn up by prominent civil society activists seeking the appointment of a Jan Lokpal , an independent body that would investigation within a year in the case getting over in the next
  9. 9. •A Look at the salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill  An institution called Lokpal and the centre and LOKAYUKTA in each state will be setup  Like supreme court and Election Commission, they will be completely independent of the government.  Cases against corrupt people will not linger on for year any more  The loss that a corrupt person caused to the government will be recovered at the time of conviction  Lokpal will give the penalty on guilty officers, which will be given as compensation to the complaint.
  10. 10. Conclusion Along with a law for setting up an independent Lokpal, simultaneous measures to strengthen the legal and administrative framework against corruption are required.  Setting up of a national Judician commission to bring the conduct of Judiciary under its purview. Law to protect citizens charter for redressal of public grievances Steps to unearth black money and confiscate the funds illegally stashed away in tax hevens.
