  4. 4. REPORTED SPEECH When we report what someone says we can do it in two different ways:! ★ We can use Direct Speech and say the exact words.! ★ We can use Reported Speech. In this case, we report the exact meaning of what someone said, but we don’t use the exact words. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

YOU CAN’T USE “SAID” WITH OBJECT OR PRONOUN.! “He said (that) he loved me.”! “He said me (that) he loved me.”! ! YOU MUST USE “TOLD” WITH AN OBJECT.! “He told me (that) he loved me.”! “He told (that) he loved me.”
