Boundary Survey Results

  2. 2. <ul><li>This year, Mills has approximately 1080 students. The largest Elementary in AISD. </li></ul><ul><li>School was built for 836 – this is known as “permanent capacity.” </li></ul><ul><li>Right now, we are 244 students over permanent capacity, or 129% of capacity. </li></ul><ul><li>AISD works to prevent schools from going beyond 115% of permanent capacity. </li></ul><ul><li>115% of our permanent capacity is 962. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>No additional classrooms available. </li></ul><ul><li>No room for portables. </li></ul><ul><li>Added 5 classrooms this year, with the addition of 2 portables (4 classrooms) and the relocation of 1 Pre-K classroom to Kiker. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Achieve capacity targets that ensure efficient operation of facilities. </li></ul><ul><li>Affect the fewest students possible. </li></ul><ul><li>Prevent multiple reassignments of students among schools by developing stable, long-term assignment plans. </li></ul><ul><li>Minimize distance for students to and from school. </li></ul><ul><li>Align feeder patterns (tracking). </li></ul><ul><li>*As of 10/1 these have not been approved by the Board of Trustees. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Mills held a Boundary Information Meeting September 21, and solicited input from parents and community members. </li></ul><ul><li>Parents and community members were asked to fill out a survey ranking their priorities during the boundary process. </li></ul><ul><li>The Boundary Reps will use these priorities to evaluate boundary plans together. </li></ul>

  7. 7. <ul><li>We made the surveys available at: </li></ul><ul><li>The Boundary Information Meeting </li></ul><ul><li>The Front Office for 1 week </li></ul><ul><li>The Principal’s Coffee. </li></ul><ul><li>132 Surveys were completed and returned to us within the 1 week timeframe. </li></ul><ul><li>We wanted to collect the data before the boundary task force began meeting. </li></ul>
