Element Interpretation Cultural Context
Black Suit Very sophisticated
Fancy
Upper Class
People that are dressed nice or
dressed up even are viewedas
professional. When President
gave the State of the Union
address he was wearing a suit.
This could also refer to that if
a man is dressed up he is
intelligent.
Bow Tie Dressed up
Professional
Going somewhere important
When a man is wearing a bow
tie it is assumed that he has
just leftan important event or
is about to attend one. An
example of this is Brad Pitt
wearing a bow tie to a red
carpet event.
The Watch The center of the ad, whichis
the center of attention. Even
though James Bond is in the ad
they want the attention drawn
to the watch.
Watches are extremely
popular in today’s culture.
Many celebrities have watches
that are worth thousands of
dollars. Some of these
celebrities are Leonardo
Dicaprio, witha watchtotaling
up to around 4 thousand
dollars and Rihanna, witha
watchtotaling up to 30
thousand dollars.
The way James Bond is
looking away
I interpreted it as him being
too good or too high up to
actually look at the viewerof
the ad.
Celebrities hold their self at a
higher standard than everyone
else. It almost seems like they
want nothing to do with
anyone besides people like
them that are famous as well.
Although, paparazzi is
followingthem around
constantly. In the television
show “Keeping Up withthe
Kardashians,” the sisters state
that they do hate the paparazzi
in one of their aired shows.
The color black Mysterious
Dark
Suspicious
In movies, such as Harry
Potter, there are scenes within
the movie that are black and
dark. These are the scenes
where there are very
suspenseful or mysterious
things that are taking place or
getting ready to take place.
The time on the clock It looks like the time says
11:08. I am interpreting that it
is 11:08 at night due to the fact
that James Bond is in a suit
and suit and tie affairsusually
are not early in the day.
Important events are normally
held in the evening, or events
you may dress very nicely to.
Some examples are the
opening ceremonies of the
Olympicsalways take place in
the evening/night, and the
Grammy’s or any award show
involving celebrities is always
held at night.
