This presentation helps new members of the Connected Employee Community take their first steps in enterprise social networking.

They will learn about the various parts of the site, how to update their profile and where to go for more help and information.

  2. 2. <ul><li>The Connected Employee </li></ul><ul><li>Community is a place for </li></ul><ul><li>you and your work friends </li></ul><ul><li>and colleagues to: </li></ul><ul><li>Explain who you are and what you do </li></ul><ul><li>Share what you know </li></ul><ul><li>Make new contacts </li></ul><ul><li>And work together </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Most new members first arrive to the Home page of </li></ul><ul><li>the community at http://community/ . </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>To visit your personal </li></ul><ul><li>page, look to the upper </li></ul><ul><li>right of the home page </li></ul><ul><li>and click on your name </li></ul><ul><li>link. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>The personal page contains your personal profile and </li></ul><ul><li>links useful to you. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>To edit your personal </li></ul><ul><li>page profile click on the </li></ul><ul><li>Edit link next to your </li></ul><ul><li>name at the top right of </li></ul><ul><li>the page. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>You will see three tabs. Each </li></ul><ul><li>tab contains different items </li></ul><ul><li>of information for you to </li></ul><ul><li>complete. </li></ul><ul><li>NB: The Name field is under the Profile Options tab </li></ul><ul><li>cont’d … </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>The Private Email field is under the Site Options tab is near the bottom of the page. </li></ul><ul><li>Go to the Email Configuration area and fill in the Private email field with your work email address. This allows you to receive alerts and messages from friends and colleagues. </li></ul>
  9. 9. <ul><li>To add friends to your </li></ul><ul><li>personal page, go back to </li></ul><ul><li>the Home page. </li></ul><ul><li>Under the Links section </li></ul><ul><li>on the upper right side of </li></ul><ul><li>the page, click on the </li></ul><ul><li>View all users link. </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>To search for a friend, </li></ul><ul><li>enter the first few letters </li></ul><ul><li>of their surname and click </li></ul><ul><li>Search (use an asterisk </li></ul><ul><li>as a wildcard). </li></ul><ul><li>Click on the person’s </li></ul><ul><li>name or avatar you want </li></ul><ul><li>from the search results at </li></ul><ul><li>the bottom of the page. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>You will be taken to their </li></ul><ul><li>personal page where you </li></ul><ul><li>can then click on the Add </li></ul><ul><li>to Friends link beneath </li></ul><ul><li>their avatar. </li></ul><ul><li>Their avatar will now </li></ul><ul><li>appear on your personal </li></ul><ul><li>page Friends area. </li></ul>
  12. 12. <ul><li>Groups are mini-communities </li></ul><ul><li>of interest. They each have </li></ul><ul><li>blogs, wikis, forums and </li></ul><ul><li>media galleries. Most are free </li></ul><ul><li>to join. </li></ul><ul><li>All groups are shown within </li></ul><ul><li>the group categories at </li></ul><ul><li>the bottom of the page. </li></ul>
  13. 13. <ul><li>To find out about the </li></ul><ul><li>latest community news, </li></ul><ul><li>go to the Home page and </li></ul><ul><li>click on the What’s </li></ul><ul><li>Happening link under </li></ul><ul><li>your avatar. </li></ul><ul><li>The page also has many </li></ul><ul><li>links to guidance for new </li></ul><ul><li>members. </li></ul>
