Since 1960, Mayflower is the leading total travel service specialist in
Malaysia with an extensive sales network globally serving 57 countries,
supported by over 300 foreign and 500 local partners working closely.
Working in a large pool of local, international and multinational
companies in Malaysia, together with some of the most established and
reputable hotels and ground operators worldwide.
Staff force of more than 500, over 2,200 vehicles of different makes and
models, a network of 19 offices and branches, including 3 airport
counters, throughout Malaysia

3. HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
December 1960
Tour operators, Stephen Kang and Josephine Kho, set up an inbound tour company, Mayflower Tours
March 1963
Tan Chong & Sons Motor Sdn Bhd established Acme Hire and Drive Cars and pioneered hire and drive
services in Malaysia.
27 December 1969
Acme Hire and Drive Cars expanded to include tours and travel, it was incorporated as a private limited
company, resulting in the birth of Acme Tours and Services Sdn Bhd.
1972
In a meeting between Kang and the late founding chairman of Tan Chong & Sons Motor, Tan Sri Dato’
Tan Yuet Foh, a possible merger between Mayflower Tours and Acme Tours and Travel Services was
discussed.
20 July 1973
Mayflower Acme Tours Sdn Bhd became a legal entity. By the late seventies, the company expanded its
range of travel services to include handling of air ticket reservations, corporate travel and outbound tours
1999
Following the reorganization of Tan Chong Motor Holdings, Warisan TC Holdings Bhd (WTCH), a
company listed in the main board of Bursa Malaysia, was established to take over the former’s non-motor
businesses, which among others, include Mayflower Acme Tours.
August 2000
WTCH entered into a joint venture (JV) with American Express to form Mayflower American Express
Travel Services focusing on corporate travel
4. 1- Invested in excess of RM30 million over the last three years and has one of the
largest fleet of vehicles in the country, totalling over 2,200 vehicles of various
makes and models.
2- Competitive pricing, a strict maintenance schedule and a 24 hour emergency
assistance hotline keep Mayflower Car Rental at the forefront of the industry.
3- Being the first to introduce luxurious air conditioned coaches in Malaysia,
Mayflower is among the largest fleet owners for ground transportation.
Totalling over 50 vehicles, they comprised tour vans, limousines, mini and
luxurious coaches of various seating capacities.
4- Mayflower has been a travel representative of American Express Travel
Services Network International since 1979.
5- A representative of Mayflower also sat on the American Express Global Travel
Network Advisory Board until its dissolution in 2008.
6- Such representation is recognition of our service quality and travel
management expertise by the world’s largest and most successful travel
management company with an annual turnover in excess of USD21.5 billion
recorded in 2009.
