Include an exclusive ‘one time’ special offer to entice them back into your business. Explain why you miss them, don’t make it a sales pitch. You may want a separate letter or offer for previous and current Customers. Ensure you cover ‘what is in it for them’ & track responses.

Move outside your comfort zone by… handing out your business cards to everyone you meet; participating as a volunteer; and keeping an eye out for opportunities & potential business joint venture partners. Make sure your business cards are professional and your website or brochure include a ‘call to action’.

Reward your existing Customer with a special offer/gift. Most business owners don’t use this strategy and it is very effective for increasing sales and loyalty.

Your USP/UBA (tag line) should describe what you do in a few short words. Example: profit strategies for smart business owners who want to succeed Your signature block should include your name, business name, title, tag line, website link, & social media links.

Your signature block should include your name, business name, title, tag line, website link, & social media links.

Use feedback to improve the quality of your service and as testimonials. Whether the feedback is good or bad you should take that as an opportunity for improvement or to add some value to your products/services.

Use it as an opportunity to spread the word on what you do. You could gain a Customer, business partner, or be referred to someone who needs you. When you are clear on the service or products you provide and the benefits they offer, you will be able to put your message across clearly and confidently without it sounding like a sales pitch.

Place a sticker inside with your business details on it (ie. Donated by …) It may cost you $200 to buy a pile of second hand or new books you can take around to service places, but it could lead to $1000s in sales. Also ask if you can place some business cards on the counter (if appropriate).

Then they can refer business to you because they understand what you do! If you can show them what you do it will make it easier to get your message across and help them to remember important aspects of your business. Asking them for their help can be invaluable.

When posting free advertising remember to show benefits and provide contact information, especially your website. It is easier to remember a website than a phone number.
