  1. 1. Kuala Lumpur is also home to the Parliament of Malaysia, and the official residence of the Malaysian King, the Istana Negara. Kuala Lumpur was founded in 1857 at the confluence of the Gombak and Klang rivers. In Malay, the name literally means "muddy confluence". The settlement started when a member of the Selangor royal family, Raja Abdullah, opened up the Klang Valley for tin prospectors. Most of central KL has grown without any central planning whatsoever, so the streets in the older parts of town are extremely narrow, winding and congested. The architecture in this section is a unique colonial type, a hybrid of European and Chinese forms With a population of over 30 million, Malaysia is the world's 44th most populous country. The bulb at the top contains a revolving restaurant, an interior observation deck at 276m and, most thrilling of all, an open deck at 300m, access to which is weather dependent.   28. 28. Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur was inspired by the five pillars of Islam and was designed by an Argentinean- American Architect Cesar Pelli
  29. 29. The twin towers are 88 story and stand at a height of 452 metres above street level. The sky bridge is located on levels 41 and 42 and is 58.4 metres in length and is at a height of 170 metres above street level. There are 29 double deck high speed passenger lifts in each tower. There are 10 escalators in each tower
