  1. 1. Kuala Lumpur is the national capital and largest city while Putrajaya is the seat of federal government. With a population of over 30 million, Malaysia is the world's 44th most populous country. The southernmost point of continental Eurasia, Tanjung Piai, is in Malaysia. Malaysia has its origins in the Malay kingdoms which, from the 18th century, became subject to the British Empire when the Straits Settlements became British protectorates. Malaya was restructured as the Federation of Malaya in 1948, and achieved independence on 31 August 1957. The country's official language is Bahasa Melayu, commonly known as the Malay language.   3. 3. The National Museum is a palatial structure built in the grand Indo-Moorish architecture style

The National Museum was officially open on 31st August 1963 and is situated on the site where the Selangor Museum (built in 1906 and destroyed by the B29 bomber of the Allied Forces in March 1945) originally stood. The National Museum’s design by architect Ho Kok Hoe was inspired by the architecture of the Malay royal palaces and vernacular Malay architecture

  8. 8. In the vicinity of the museum building, there are a number of outdoor displays of transportation in Malaysia, past and present. An interesting exhibit is the Melaka Bullock Cart
  9. 9. The Istana Satu (First Palace) was a royal residence Original-size old timber palace known as Istana Satu. Erected by Sultan Zainal Abidin III, 1884, this building is of Malay traditional architecture, in the form called "Rumah Tiang Dua Belas“ The guest hall of the istana is furnished with a cupboard that is made of carved wood with gold inlaid and complete with a mirror.
  10. 10. The floor of the central section of the main building is decorated with special tiles which were gifts from the government of Pakistan
  11. 11. The ground floor showcases the geographic and natural history of the Malay peninsula starting with the Stone Age, the Bronze Age and the Iron Age, Hindu-Buddhist kingdoms to Muslim sultanate of Malacca

  22. 22. The bunga mas dan perak (lit. "golden and silver flowers“) was a tribute sent every three years to the king of Ayutthaya (Siam) from its vassal states in the Malay Peninsula. The tribute consisted of two small trees made of gold and silver, plus costly gifts of weapons, goods and slaves. The practice ended with the establishment of British rule in most of the northern Malay states under the terms of the Anglo-Siamese Treaty of 1909

  24. 24. People from different ethnic backgrounds have distinct sets of traditional attire that reflect their cultures. In the museum are some of the more common ethnic costumes worn by Malaysians that show their vibrant cultural heritage.

  30. 30. The Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia was officially opened on 12 December 1998. The museum is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s tourist belt amidst the lush greenery of Perdana Botanical Gardens and within walking distance to the National Mosque
  31. 31. The museum is the largest museum of Islamic arts in South East Asia with more than seven thousands artifacts from the Islamic world. The art objects on display range from the tiniest pieces of jewelry to one of the world’s largest scale models of the Masjid al- Haram in Mecca
