Funchal, thanks to its orography in the form of an amphitheatre is a city with many viewpoints. Some of them were
created specifically for this purpose, others arise spontaneously, between alleys and corners of houses.

The Vale das Neves viewpoint, Sao Gonçalo Funchal, located just
above the Pináculo Viewpoint, a share of the altitude of 300
meters. The pinheira tree are ex-libris of that space (Bus 2,39)

The Quinta Vigia Viewpoint is part of this historic estate, which houses the official residence of the President of the
Regional Government. Its view extends from the Funchal bay to Garajau. The gardens of the quinta are open to the
public, being mainly visited by foreign tourists, surprised by the botanical diversity they find here.

Madeira, an autonomous region of Portugal, is an archipelago comprising 4 islands
off the northwest coast of Africa. It is known for its namesake wine and warm,
subtropical climate. The main island of Madeira is volcanic, green and rugged, with
high cliffs, pebbly beaches and settlements on deltas of the Faja River.
Madeira, originally uninhabited, was claimed by Portuguese sailors in the service of
Prince Henry the Navigator in 1419 and settled after 1420. The archipelago is
considered to be the first territorial discovery of the exploratory period of the Age of
Discovery.
