2. Yangdong Folk Village (Yangdong Village of Gyeongju) is a traditional yangban (Korean
Aristocracy) village from the Joseon dynasty. The village is located in Gangdong-myeon,
sixteen kilometers northeast of Gyeongju, along the Hyeongsan River. Mt. Seolchang
stands to the north of the village. Yangdong dates back from the 15th century (Joseon
period). The village has been very well preserved. It is in fact the largest traditional and
most authentic village in Korea. It has been listed as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO in
2010. Although some of the village is unoccupied today, the village residents have
continued to preserve the original spiritual legacy of the village by performing the
traditional rituals and customs of upper-class families of the Joseon period until today.

lots of dioramas and information panels
about the history of the village and most of
explanations are also in English
