  1. 1. Aljoscha (born 1974 in Hlukhiv, USSR) is a Ukrainian visual artist known for conceptual installations and sculptures based on ideas of bioism, biofuturism and bioethical abolitionism. Educated at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts (Conrad Klapeka class) and the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg (Shirin Neshat class), he lives and works in Düsseldorf.
  2. 2. The Ukrainian-Russian artist Aljoscha (Aleksei Kazantsev) conceives sculptures, installations and interventions not as common works of art but as futuristic organisms in the sense of bioism. Inspiration for his work is biotechnology and genetic engineering. He orients himself closer to the natural sciences and philosophy than to the theory of art. In the Kunstraum, his microbio-logical "organisms" spread unhindered and create a space-filling, monumental sculpture "The Gates of the Sun and the Land of Dreams”, Museum Schloss Benrath, Düsseldorf
  3. 3. In 2008 Aljoscha won the first prize in the category of sculpture «XXXV Premio Bancaja» (Valencia, Spain), in 2009 - Schlosspark Award (Cologne, Germany)
  4. 4. Aljoscha participated in many personal and group exhibitions in Germany, Russia, Belarus, Spain, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Austria and other countries
  5. 5. The baroque style castle Benrath demands a visit on its own, but the phenomenal sculptural work of Ukranian artist Aljoscha enhances the building’s traditional architecture and its surrounding gardens by presenting an incredible contrast in material and colour, that fantastically compliments its surroundings.
