Welcome to the 4th and final edition of the Stay IN
newsletter.
Our project has finished on a positive note, with the
visit of Rotterdam and final meeting hosted by the
partner organization MBO Raad, The Netherlands.
The goal of the project was to provide better support
by developing individual training programmes in
identification potential risk factors for drop out and
obtainment strategies and instruments for
teachers and trainers in the initial vocational
education training (VET) sector in the participating
countries Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Finland,
The Netherlands and Turkey against early school
leaving and drop out from initial VET.
The Stay IN training programmes are ready to
welcome those of you who wish to improve their
skills by getting a number of crucial competences
and know how to prevent drop out.
In this final edition of our project newsletter, we take
a look on our partners´ statements regarding their
country-specific usability of the project outcomes as
well as a report from our recent final conference
which took place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Please refer to the “flagged” boxes in the next pages
for further information about the partners statements.
About Stay IN and
Recent Activities
On September 29th, 2015, the final Conference of
Stay IN took place in Rotterdam, Netherlands with
the participation of 67 stakeholders from the part-
ner organisations, teachers, company trainers,
school coordinators and members of the Dutch
government.
The plenary part of the conference began with a
welcoming speech of Ms Ellen Verheijen from
MBO Raad and a representative from the STC-
Group. The current situation and challenge of ESL
and drop out from initial VET in Europe and an
overview about the Stay IN Project was presented
by the coordinator Ms Michaela Meier. The both
keynote speakers Mr Dennis von Gessel from the
Ministry of Education and Ms Ilya Zitter from the
University of Applied Sciences gave a lecture on
different concepts from the integration of school
learning and learning at the workplace on Europe-
an level and in The Netherlands.
The afternoon session of the conference was di-
vided into two separate tracks:
The International track addressed on the results
of six country projects and the participants re-
ceived examples of the developed training mod-
ules and tools. The approx. 40 participants of the
Dutch track had a debate about the importance
of guidance during students’ apprenticeship
training with a special focus on low skilled stu-
dents.
The final part of the afternoon session was dedi-
cated to a panel discussion. The audience was
strongly interested in the discussion. During this
session, participants had the opportunity to ask
questions to all partner representatives and
speakers, and discussed matters related to the
topic of Stay IN.

BBW in der DAA (Germany) received a positive
feedback during the dissemination activities about
the training handbooks which have been
developed by trainers for trainers. The guidance
handbook helps the trainers and coaches to react
regarding ESL. The training handling is easy and
understandable for teachers, stated by the
participants of the pilot phase.
This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. This publication reflects the views only of the author,

Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dobrich
(Bulgaria), thanks to Stay IN project, improved
the cooperation with the stakeholders in the VET
training and the VET schools in the region.
The developed needs analysis was evaluated by
the stakeholders as a very helpful and useful in-
formation material. It will be used by development
of training programs for the teachers in the region
and the problematic will be included in the dis-
cussed topics at teachers’ conferences.
The developed Handbook on the 4 topics will be distrib-
uted in all schools on paper and it will be available for
free download from our web site, so that teachers can
use it for self-improvement of their skills and knowledge.
We, as an organization gained experience in such type
of projects and will be happy to be selected as partners
in other projects related to VET training and education.
WinNova (Finland) successfully completed Stay IN
project in Finland. The participants of the pilot training
programme were very satisfied with what they had
learned during the pilot training: new approaches to
teaching young people and communicating with them;
and also new perspectives to preventing drop-outs.
One exploitation seminar has been organized in order
to convince management of vocational institutions and
other interest groups about the sustainability and ex-
ploitation potential of the Stay IN products. In October
2015 the Stay IN products will be presented nationally
during the national event in Vierumäki, the theme of
the event being internationality of vocational education.
A new ESF-financed project "Fluid transitions from
vocational education and training to work in flexible
regional networks" has started in WinNova in August.
Stay IN -products will be utilized in teacher training
(one part of the new project). The project is national,
includes partners from eastern, northern and middle
parts of Finland. All the materials of the Stay IN training
programme are available in Finnish at https://

Jugend am Werk (Austria), from the point of view
of a holistic development of perspectives, analysed
the various challenges in the work with youth and
created and implemented new methodological and
didactic approaches. For our organization, Stay IN
made it possible to adapt educational content for
trainers and to install a holistic teaching and learning
programme to best satisfy the requirements in our
youth work. This content-based implementation
was only possible through the financial support as
part of the Stay IN Leonardo da Vinci project.
And this is what we continue to work on: “NEW-D”, a
further Erasmus+ Project, had been started during the
previous year with the goal to create a new didactical
VET-training model for disadvantaged youth learners!
Partners’ Statements
and Future Perspectives
MBO Raad (The Netherlands) found that VET
educators feel that the cooperation between
school teachers and company trainers can be
improved. The ambition in the Netherlands is to
reduce ESL even further. A lot has been
reached over the last years. We know how to
improve cooperation, we know which topics
should be discussed, we know which infor-
mation should be shared. The people involved
however do not always find the time or oppor-
tunity to practise what is preached. Arranging
the contact moment, for instance by have a
training course open to both school teachers
and company trainers, is a simple but apparent-
ly crucial factor in improving cooperation in guid-
ance and thereby improving the conditions for
student’s at risk.
Eğitim ve Gençlik Çalışmaları (Turkey)
believes that being partner in Stay IN Leonardo
da Vinci Project is important in many aspects not
only for our organization but also for the country.
The drop out problem is started to consider as a
serious problem in the last years. The project
leads to a mind change in a positive way
towards to reducing drop out. The most
important thing is that because of Stay IN the
conscious of educators participated in project
significantly changed. We just started to deal
with problem and there is increasing interest of
teachers, schools, companies and managers.
Another important point is we have already
developed useful educational and didactic
materials.
Our members are proud of our organization for
taking part in such a important project. We really
feel very successful and happy to being part of
development of didactic materials at the EU
level.

  • 1. Project number: LLP-LDV-TOI-13-AT-0010 Newsletter No. 4 This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. This publication reflects the views only of the author, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein. October, 2015 In the pictures, Stay IN partners during their speeches at the Conference in Rotterdam, on 29 September 2015 Welcome to the 4th and final edition of the Stay IN newsletter. Our project has finished on a positive note, with the visit of Rotterdam and final meeting hosted by the partner organization MBO Raad, The Netherlands. The goal of the project was to provide better support by developing individual training programmes in identification potential risk factors for drop out and obtainment strategies and instruments for teachers and trainers in the initial vocational education training (VET) sector in the participating countries Austria, Germany, Bulgaria, Finland, The Netherlands and Turkey against early school leaving and drop out from initial VET. The Stay IN training programmes are ready to welcome those of you who wish to improve their skills by getting a number of crucial competences and know how to prevent drop out. In this final edition of our project newsletter, we take a look on our partners´ statements regarding their country-specific usability of the project outcomes as well as a report from our recent final conference which took place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Please refer to the “flagged” boxes in the next pages for further information about the partners statements. About Stay IN and Recent Activities On September 29th, 2015, the final Conference of Stay IN took place in Rotterdam, Netherlands with the participation of 67 stakeholders from the part- ner organisations, teachers, company trainers, school coordinators and members of the Dutch government. The plenary part of the conference began with a welcoming speech of Ms Ellen Verheijen from MBO Raad and a representative from the STC- Group. The current situation and challenge of ESL and drop out from initial VET in Europe and an overview about the Stay IN Project was presented by the coordinator Ms Michaela Meier. The both keynote speakers Mr Dennis von Gessel from the Ministry of Education and Ms Ilya Zitter from the University of Applied Sciences gave a lecture on different concepts from the integration of school learning and learning at the workplace on Europe- an level and in The Netherlands. The afternoon session of the conference was di- vided into two separate tracks: The International track addressed on the results of six country projects and the participants re- ceived examples of the developed training mod- ules and tools. The approx. 40 participants of the Dutch track had a debate about the importance of guidance during students’ apprenticeship training with a special focus on low skilled stu- dents. The final part of the afternoon session was dedi- cated to a panel discussion. The audience was strongly interested in the discussion. During this session, participants had the opportunity to ask questions to all partner representatives and speakers, and discussed matters related to the topic of Stay IN. STAY IN conference
  • 2. October, 2015 Newsletter No. 4 BBW in der DAA (Germany) received a positive feedback during the dissemination activities about the training handbooks which have been developed by trainers for trainers. The guidance handbook helps the trainers and coaches to react regarding ESL. The training handling is easy and understandable for teachers, stated by the participants of the pilot phase. This project has been funded with support from the European Commission. This publication reflects the views only of the author, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein. Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dobrich (Bulgaria), thanks to Stay IN project, improved the cooperation with the stakeholders in the VET training and the VET schools in the region. The developed needs analysis was evaluated by the stakeholders as a very helpful and useful in- formation material. It will be used by development of training programs for the teachers in the region and the problematic will be included in the dis- cussed topics at teachers’ conferences. The developed Handbook on the 4 topics will be distrib- uted in all schools on paper and it will be available for free download from our web site, so that teachers can use it for self-improvement of their skills and knowledge. We, as an organization gained experience in such type of projects and will be happy to be selected as partners in other projects related to VET training and education. WinNova (Finland) successfully completed Stay IN project in Finland. The participants of the pilot training programme were very satisfied with what they had learned during the pilot training: new approaches to teaching young people and communicating with them; and also new perspectives to preventing drop-outs. One exploitation seminar has been organized in order to convince management of vocational institutions and other interest groups about the sustainability and ex- ploitation potential of the Stay IN products. In October 2015 the Stay IN products will be presented nationally during the national event in Vierumäki, the theme of the event being internationality of vocational education. A new ESF-financed project "Fluid transitions from vocational education and training to work in flexible regional networks" has started in WinNova in August. Stay IN -products will be utilized in teacher training (one part of the new project). The project is national, includes partners from eastern, northern and middle parts of Finland. All the materials of the Stay IN training programme are available in Finnish at https:// www.rebelmouse.com/STAYIN_PILOTTIKOULUTUS/ National tables at the conference in Rotterdam on 29 September 2015 Jugend am Werk (Austria), from the point of view of a holistic development of perspectives, analysed the various challenges in the work with youth and created and implemented new methodological and didactic approaches. For our organization, Stay IN made it possible to adapt educational content for trainers and to install a holistic teaching and learning programme to best satisfy the requirements in our youth work. This content-based implementation was only possible through the financial support as part of the Stay IN Leonardo da Vinci project. And this is what we continue to work on: “NEW-D”, a further Erasmus+ Project, had been started during the previous year with the goal to create a new didactical VET-training model for disadvantaged youth learners! Partners’ Statements and Future Perspectives
  • 3. MBO Raad (The Netherlands) found that VET educators feel that the cooperation between school teachers and company trainers can be improved. The ambition in the Netherlands is to reduce ESL even further. A lot has been reached over the last years. We know how to improve cooperation, we know which topics should be discussed, we know which infor- mation should be shared. The people involved however do not always find the time or oppor- tunity to practise what is preached. Arranging the contact moment, for instance by have a training course open to both school teachers and company trainers, is a simple but apparent- ly crucial factor in improving cooperation in guid- ance and thereby improving the conditions for student’s at risk. Eğitim ve Gençlik Çalışmaları (Turkey) believes that being partner in Stay IN Leonardo da Vinci Project is important in many aspects not only for our organization but also for the country. The drop out problem is started to consider as a serious problem in the last years. The project leads to a mind change in a positive way towards to reducing drop out. The most important thing is that because of Stay IN the conscious of educators participated in project significantly changed. We just started to deal with problem and there is increasing interest of teachers, schools, companies and managers. Another important point is we have already developed useful educational and didactic materials. Our members are proud of our organization for taking part in such a important project. We really feel very successful and happy to being part of development of didactic materials at the EU level.
