GM's Lutz: Only One Customer Brought Back A Car Automotive News Most of the consumers who have purchased cars during General Motors' 60-day money-back guarantee program turned it down in favor of an alternative $500 cash incentive offer, Jamie La Reau reports. The program, which started Sept. 14, runs through November. &quot;Out of hundreds of thousands, the people who've selected the 60-day guarantee were in the hundreds,&quot; says GM vice chairman and marketing chief Bob Lutz. &quot;We have had one substantiated return of a vehicle.&quot; And that was from a guy who had a problem driving a stick shift and exchanged it for a car with an automatic transmission. Lutz also says GM will spend aggressively and competitively to market its vehicles until &quot;we see a substantial change&quot; in consumers' attitudes toward GM products, LaReau writes. Its new &quot;May the Best Car Win&quot; campaign hopes &quot;to shock Americans into the reality of GM's products,&quot; according to Lutz.

Ford Vehicles Leading In Loyalty Ranking by  Karl Greenberg , Yesterday, 3:04 PM Six Ford vehicles are leading the industry in the number of owners who repurchase a Ford when they return to showrooms, per Experian Automotive data from the second quarter this year. The firm said Ford Fusion, Ford Edge and Ford Five Hundred owners showed the industry's highest brand loyalty -- returning to buy a Ford Motor Co. vehicle 62.4%, 57.9% and 56% of the time, respectively. The Ford Freestyle was fifth, the Ford Escape was seventh, and the Ford Focus came in ninth. Toyota Prius was in fourth place with 52% brand loyalty, while the Chevrolet Impala was sixth place, Toyota Camry came in at number eight and the Toyota Corolla finished in 10th place.

Apple Hopes To Disrupt Windows 7 Debut Business Week Apple sees the Windows 7 launch as its best chance in years to win over longtime PC users, Peter Burrows reports, and it probably will bombard buyers with advertising in the coming weeks that pokes fun at users trying to upgrade from XP while also making the point that Macs are less susceptible to viruses and are best suited to iPods and iPhones. &quot;We've been through these transitions before, and no matter how you look at it, it's still Windows,&quot; says Philip W. Schiller, Apple's svp for marketing. &quot;When all is said and done, the Mac picks up share a bit at a time.&quot; Parri Munsell, Microsoft's director for consumer product management, counters that the &quot;vast majority&quot; of consumers who upgrade to Windows 7 will also buy new hardware, and PCs are generally a lot cheaper than Macs. Others also doubt that Mac will make huge inroads. &quot;I just don't think you're going to have a huge influx of people who have perfectly good XP machines deciding they need to buy an all-new Mac,&quot; says PC Data analyst Stephen Baker.

Consumers can also use Facebook Connect to send Sparkles to their Facebook friends. Digital ads will run on several different sites in November and December. Consumers can send Sparkles through the Sparkle Generator even after the promotion ends early next year, according to an Izze spokesperson.
