2. EXPLAIN YOUR PURPOSE
Before asking a question, tell what you are doing and why. This
lets others know that you are doing important work and that
their response is of value to you.
3. PROFESSIONALISM
Be respectful, sincere, and polite. Show confidence and
demonstrate knowledge in what you are doing. Keep your
opinions to yourself.
4. THINK TIME
Allow the person you are interviewing time to think about their
response and how they would like to say it. Listen carefully and
ask follow-up questions if you need more information.
5. DON’T STOP RECORDING
Remember to video record without stopping, even if you are
talking or the person you are interviewing is thinking. You can
always edit out parts that you don’t want or need.
6. MAINTAIN CONTROL
If your source starts to ramble on about things that are off
topic, don’t be afraid to gently-but firmly-steer the conversation
back to the appropriate subject matter.
