  4. 4. There is a pertinent story about a man who wasworking on an oil platform in the North Sea. Hewoke up one night from a loud explosion, whichsuddenly set his entire oil platform on fire. Inmere moments, he was surrounded by flames.Through the smoke and heat, he barely made hisway out of the chaos to the platforms edge. Whenhe looked down over the edge, all he could seewere the dark, cold, foreboding Atlantic waters. As the fire approached him, the man had mereseconds to react. He could stand on the platform, and inevitably be consumed by the burningflames. Or, he could plunge 30 meters in to thefreezing waters. The man was standing upon a"burning platform," and he needed to make achoice.
  5. 5. He decided to jump. It was unexpected. Inordinary circumstances, the man would neverconsider plunging into icy waters. But thesewere not ordinary times - his platform was onfire. The man survived the fall and thewaters. After he was rescued, he noted that a"burning platform" caused a radical changein his behaviour. We too, are standing on a "burning platform,"and we must decide how we are going tochange our behaviour.………….. 7. 7. “Stories are fundamental to the way we communicate, learn, and think. They are the most efficient way of storing, retrieving, and conveying information. Because hearing stories requires activeparticipation on the part of the listener, stories are the most profound social form of human interaction, communication, and learning.”

Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.- Warren BennisThe ability to summon positive emotions during periods ofintense stress lies at the heart of effective leadership. - Jim LoehrIf I have the belief that I can do it, I will surely acquire the capacityto do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning . - Mahatma GandhiIt takes tremendous discipline to control the influence, the poweryou have over other peoples lives. - Clint EastwoodI used to think that running an organization was equivalent toconducting a symphony orchestra. But I dont think thats quite it;its more like jazz. There is more improvisation. Warren Bennis
