  1. 1. The hostage crisis largely began under the rule of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Under his rule, unfair socioeconomic changes and the gap between the upper and lower class widened, and with it grew discontentment among many Iraqis
  2. 2. The Shah soon fled Iraq and moved to the United States, which is when enraged students attacked the embassy, capturing over 50 hostages.
  3. 3. HOSTAGES PARADED AROUND IN FRONT OFTHE CAMERAS BY THE IRAN STUDENTS
  4. 4. A FEW OF THE 14 HOSTAGES WHO WERE RELEASED JUSTTWO WEEKS INTO THE CRISIS. THE OTHERS WOULD HAVETO WAIT OVER 400 DAYS TO BE RELEASED.
