Digital Humanities Digital Society Digital Science The Digital Agenda for Europe of the European Commission based on the horizon 2020 marking the key lines of the digital transformation in our society. We analyse the opportunities for research, financing and participation of the communitarian policies from the University of Granada. From the area of Digital Science we work on the development of digital strategies and tools employed by researcher and the whole university community in order to move forward in academic practices more open and with a major impact (Digital Scholarship). Also, we advance in the visualization and communication of bibliometric information of the University of Granada. Technology and Humanities constitute two key ideas to configure a new space of knowledge that we denominate Digital Humanities, a space which encompasses a set of practices, academic and not academic, in the area of research, teaching and transfer of knowledge which emerge from the incorporation of the digital technologies in this field of knowledge.

  49. 49. medialab.ugr.es! @MedialabUGR! A new approach to the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge The digital environment is completely transforming the way in which scientific knowledge is being produced and disseminated, also in those areas of research which have incorporated to the technologic revolution at a later stage, which is the case of Social Sciences and Digital Humanities. Nevertheless, these new tools and digital devices do not always receive the academic recognition they deserve, even if the development of only one of these products could consume the professional career of an academic completely. Knowmetrics intends to highlight the value of the activity of the digital humanistic taking the singularity of her/his own field of action as its standpoint, with a open science, transdisciplinary philosophy  oriented to the collaborative work. Knowmetrics is a project developed in Medialab UGR with researchers of a variety of Spanish, European and American institutions funded by the BBVA Foundation (75,000 € / 2 years). ! http://knowmetrics.org Knowmetrics: knowledge assessment in the digital society 54!

  52. 52. medialab.ugr.es! @MedialabUGR! The videogames phenomena and the ‘gamer’ culture The intrinsic complexity of the videogame and the ‘gamer’ culture forces to acknowledge the nature of this phenomena from as many perspectives as possible. The seminars and workshops ‘Ggames’ were born with this spirit, with which we pursue the contact among different communities interested in the videogame world in order to generate interdisciplinary work dynamics and the development of future projects in this matter. The promoters of this initiative show a clear vocation to break boundaries and agglutinate academic and professional disparate trajectories, with artists and researchers from areas such as History, Arts or IT. http://medialab.ugr.es/proyectos/cultura-y- videojuegos-ggames/ Culture and videogames: GGames 57!

  54. 54. medialab.ugr.es! @MedialabUGR! A new approach towards the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge The Digital Social Sciences and Humanities Atlas (#AtlasCSHD) conforms a project which intends to give visibility to the digital academic community in Spanish and other Latin languages. Its aim is to describe and geo-localize in a map researchers, projects, centers and other sources which have been developed in the field of the Digital Humanities and Social Sciences. Any person can apply to appear in it by completing a simple form application. http://atlascshd.org atlascshd.org 59!

  56. 56. medialab.ugr.es! @MedialabUGR! Creating a community of digital humanistics Medialab promote all kind of encounters which have as an objective not only the transference of knowledge but also to create a networking of professionals and people attached to Digital Humanities. Thus, we will carry out a number of open workshops in form of conferences and seminars around Digital Humanities projects. We also celebrate meetings between technologic and humanistic promote events such as the THATCamp. Finally we will work to give visibility to those projects in the area of the humanities with a strong digital component. http://medialab.ugr.es/proyectos/encuentros-hd/ DH meetings 61!

  59. 59. medialab.ugr.es! @MedialabUGR! Learning to digitalize Humanities Training researchers, students and administrative stafff in the field of Digital Humanities is one of the lines which Medialab intends to focus on. For them we offer digital tools for its use in research, teaching or dissemination. We will create a Digital Humanities Toolbox with free and useful tools for researching on Digital Humanities. We will also organize practical methodological seminars about the use of new technologies in Humanities. http://medialab.ugr.es/proyectos/formacion- hd/ DH Teaching 64!
  60. 60. medialab.ugr.es! @MedialabUGR! Helping to research on Digital Humanities One of the objectives of Medialab UGR is to increase the formulation of interdisciplinary projects. Hence, we intend to create seminars and workshops about how to apply for individual or consortium projects whose scientific part has a very strong digital component. In this regard, practical cases of the fulfilment of the scientific-technical and budget part will be conducted, as well as to identify which digital tools adopt for one or another project. Similarly, specific seminars about the European calls (H2020) for the Humanities and Social Sciences in the digital area will be given: identification of calls, analysis of which are the objectives, the impact that is required, etc. Finally, it will be identified other national calls (BBVA Foundation) or international ones which had included Digital Humanities as a priority line. http://medialab.ugr.es/proyectos/investigacion-hd/ DH Research 65!

  68. 68. medialab.ugr.es @MedialabUGR Promoting the development of research projects with a digital approach Medialab UGR promotes this call for research projects, within the program ‘Plan Propio’ at University of Granada, with the aim of promoting academic production and knowledge transfer in its three strategic lines of research performance: Digital Society, Digital Humanities and Digital Science. This initiative is expected to stimulate the preparation of projects for other competitions at national and European level, with a special focus on Horizon 2020; and to proliferate the development of digital research at the University of Granada. http://medialab.ugr.es/proyectos/convocatoria-de- proyectos-de-investigacion-medialab-ugr/ Call for Medialab UGR research projects 73
  69. 69. medialab.ugr.es @MedialabUGR Innovative methods for solving problems and communicating ideas In research, creative thinking is indispensable to open new fields and contribute to the progress of knowledge. 71. 71. medialab.ugr.es @MedialabUGR Exploring new ways of data visualization with real-time bibliometric indicators One of the requirements of the new times is to disseminate information about our research results to the general public on a daily basis. In this sense we will create a section that visually represents, through graphic galleries, the most representative research data of our university such as research projects and production in Web of Science. The aim is taking the data through web services and represent them in a synchronous way, offering immediate access, up-to-the-minute. http://livemetrics.ugr.es/ Live Metrics 76

It is proposed to create a web of experts combining, on the one hand, data of its presence in social networks, with its academic prestige and scientific keywords. Thus we will identify experts by area and we will include tag clouds in order to allow users to navigate. http://medialab.ugr.es/proyectos/mapeo-de- lineas-y-expertos/ Mapping research areas and experts 79
